I now own two of these Kaico adapters.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-Cable...i&qid=1645953046&sprefix=kaico+,aps,68&sr=8-4

One for my OG modded XBOX which most games on the OG are native progressive scan and some do more than 480P res too.

The OG XBOX is stunning with it.

However I am more impressed with the PS2 results since most games on that system are interlaced and rendered at lower res.

I took a rather crap video of it in action (Tekken 5 in 60HZ PAL mode) The video output on the PS2 is in YPBPR mode, not RGB.

The only note is that I get mono audio to my receiver if I use HDMI audio oddly, but using direct optical from the console solved the problem.

The screen is an AOC Q32E2N 32" 2560x1440P monitor. I use it to lay in bed and play games, watch Netflix etc.

It is very responsive regardless of the monitor being a more entry level screen and being IPS at just 75hz max refresh.

Colours especially really pop.

See for yourself.

This adapter is said to not work for PS1 games which kinda sucks because the PS2 is an awesome way to play PS1 games. I did try it out, I could see the PS logo on boot and go through the menus but in game I lose signal.
It is possible that PS1 games render at too low resolution for most screens to pick up the HDMI signal, GT2 did run the menu in higher res than a race.

It is possible PS1 games may work through RGB mode, I shall have to test it.

EDIT.

RGB mode also fails on GT2.
You may get lucky with some PS1 games depending on what resolution they render in, I can't say any will work though since I did get an image in GT2 just not in a race.

I can see why Kaico just outright says they don't work with it.
Your mileage will vary.

Further information.

"I use this exact same HDMI adapter and can also confirm this does not work with PS1 games (I'm from a PAL region). :/ However, it is possible (though not exactly totally ideal) to get them to work by forcing PAL/NTSC (576i/480i) SDTV Modes via GSM. So far, many of my PAL PS1 games work perfectly by doing this, even in component mode. Kaico are apparently soon going to release a PS1 HDMI adapter alongside supposedly a firmware update for this adapter to also support PS1 games, so that'll be the most ideal solution."

This means modifying your PS2 with FMCB.

I have purchased a memory card with FMCB on it for £7.99 from ebay to test it with GSM, I shall update the thread when it arrived and I have played around for a bit.
