Hello people.

When I took out the contract on my phone I was offered one months free insurance, but how do I cancel it? Who do I contact? Does anybody have a phone number? Or should I just go down to my Bank and cancel it from there?

Thanks.

The first place to contact is the place where you got your phone - they will probably be able to cancel it for you and will certainly be able to tell you where to go. If it's from a cheap deal on the internet the insurance was probably set up by the retailer independently of the network. If it's visible as a seperate direct debit on your bank account you might want to try and cancel it there as well, but you shouldn't just do that without asking to cancel the insurance seperately first.

Insurance from the Link is shocking, much like The Link themselves actually.

Back in the day when I had a T600, I took it in for repair with a promise of having it back within 2 weeks. I did get it back but it didn't work. After several more episodes with The Link, I eventually got my phone back...... 154 days after first taking it in.

The compensation..... £20.

Cancelling is the best thing you could do.

Oit we aint that bad lol

Tupac, behind your contract you should have the insurance details with a reference number top right and phone number bottom left ish.

Found it, phone them and cancelled, the guy kept coughing

They say i'll get a letter to cofirm cancellation, tbh now that i've phoned, regardless of whether it's truely cancelled or not, i'm going to cancel it at the bank.

:)

Cheers for the help.

You are, believe me. Much like the time when I went to my local branch for a D500.

Do you have any in stock?

Yes

Can I have one on T-Mobile Upgrade?

Erm

I've sorted my timeplan, I just need the phone.

No, but if you take out the coverplan then yes.

I wanna speak to your manager.

Manager arrives.

He's just told me you have 3x D500's in stock and I can only have one if I take out your insurance.

He wouldn't have said that.

He did and I have a witness.

This ended in an arguement, I walked out vowing never to go back and I got the last one in stock in CPW.

Yeah, i've had terrible experiences with The Link too. I have 2 friends who recently work there after working at Curry's, they compete how far they can push the customers into buying their crummy insurance :/

Actually we dont - all shops of course go for good insurance rates, but we dont force anyone into anything.
Actually the link plan aint bad, ive seen a lot of people messued up their contract by smashing their phone halfway through, and thats what its there to protect against, simple as.
Im not going to sit here all day and defend the link but please dont take it for granted we are all like your experiences.

Everytime I have been into The Link, I have been lied to, had the insurance pushed etc etc.

I've had the misfortune of working for the Dixons Group last year and a Link Cust Services staff member even told me over the phone how crap they are.
Whilst you or your store may be ok, I have so far stuck to my word and have never been back.

As for the CPW, thats a much better experience.

the biggest problem with Link Plan is price. network insurance plans are better and often cheaper. Mastercare are really poor at handling repairs. spent over 2 years with the Link, it used to be a running joke calling them. they don't know their own policies, and from a staff point of view give them the run around. I've 3 phones repaired under them, 2 as staff one as joe public public. each repair has taken 6 months to sort out. They lost my phone and had the nerve to blame the store, then call me a thief. I've spent so long battling with them, dealing with the under writers, every single T&C they have. Being blunt, it really isn't worth it. 6 months to repair a phone with a dodgy speaker? C'mon! In short avoid the like the plague. Most store polices are over priced.
