The local do gooder

Can't wait until the new laws come in, hate faffing around with tax discs, even if it is once a year.

Picked up my new car Thuesday without a tax disk, told I have 14 days to display from first registration as the tax disk come direct from DVLA. Quite strange driving without one, the sooner you dont have to display them the better.

But it will actually become much more of a faff. I only learned the other day that when you sell a car under the new rules, it becomes untaxed and is refunded. So when you buy a car you have to tax it right away, but you still can only buy 1 month minimum, so it's basically a big swindle.

Leave him a note with your number, and where you like to go on first dates, and that you can't believe he's waited this long to get in touch.

Alternatively, you can just get on with your life.

Only if you're buying or selling a car, I've had 3 cars in 10 years so not really an issue. I don't get how it's a swindle?

Only a swindle for the buyer who has to tax the car fully to drive away in it. Rather than replying on the seller to leave 12 months (or less on it).

Can you tax it immediately though?

It's equally annoying trying to buy a car which has no tax so you have to arrange with the seller to see the car then get yourself to the nearest open post office and back before you can drive it home.

LOL bet its some old bloke with nowt better to do :p
Watch him write hundreds of notes in September ;)
Blutack mate, my tax disc has been on since I bought it and never fell off, those holders I used in the past were cack, plastic ones split and the metal ones kept fallign off.

Fair enough. Imagine if you were some scrote that pays no road tax and insurance like the rest of us, it'd make you get your money out!

have a parking permit and was given a tax/permit stick on holder with it, just asked for another and overlapped them so have the tax and permit directly above each other and they ain't going noooowheerrrreee :)
