Its still having episodes released, technically speaking its v1.0 came out quite a while ago now. Given the narrative in their episodes I would suspect that 2 will follow directly on storywise from the end of 1's episodes.

Co-op would be good, there used to be (dont know how well it was kept up to date) a co-op mod for Long Dark 1 , I tried it a while back with that mod and it was pretty good , although tough, in co-op.

I also love TLD. Although never finished the storyline (looking today I can see more had been added, I may re-start), but played shedloads of the sandbox survival. Scratches a niche cozy / survival / peril itch...
