Yo :)

The case I have is an antec 300.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell me what to buy to make it run as silent as possible.

I have the normal case fans in, and would like to have a fan (as long as its silent) in every slot, for ultimate cooling.

Maybe a bit of foam would be good? Dont have a clue as its my 1st build :)

This message will self destruct in...3...2...1...

(Sorry for the gayness of thread :D)

Be prepared for much frustration and an increasing amount of money to be poured into it. It's pretty much unnatainable and the more noise you get rid of the more you tend to notice the ones that you couldn't hear before.

If you're ok with that then by all means go for it, just warning you :p

I work at purple shirt land - money is definitly an issue!

Ok, lets expand on the mission criteria - one "dream" solution, and one "budget but good" solution :)

this is the truth i cut out nearly all noise from my pc and now the hard drive is started to annoy me. Never heard it before until i swapped out all the fans and used a fan controller.

From reviews ive read the foam to line the inside of the case has minimal affect on noise. I would buy a cheap fan controller or volt mod the fans the make them quieter

volt mod the fans, suspend any hard drives.

what gfx card and what cpu cooler are you using ?, might be able to control the gfx card fan by ati tool etc.

run silicon sealant around any joints where the case sides join onto the case to help with any vibration, making sure the sides are screwed in nice and tight.

can use the silicon sealant to form a base around the fan holes and screw the fans onto it, helps with vibration from the fans to the case.

Surely these would be cheaper :D

As already pointed out above you really have to set a line of level before you start. I've changed all the fans in my case and HSF a number of times which meant I could hear other components. I even went as far as getting myself some temp controlled fan controllers and use them to control all the fans in my case and then I gave up.
