Pretty brutal show on tonight about the British army in Iraq... Anyone else catch it?

It's a pretty sickening thought that stuff like that could have been going on for close to four years now.

I've been looking forward to this since it was moved from last week.

Gerard Kearns was excellent.

Really opened my eyes to what went on, really disappointed in the British Army for what those soldiers were allowed to do.

A must see!

I think people need to remember that that was a TV drama. Although based on events that did happen, how accurate these events were portrayed needs to be taken into account.

If you've followed any of the torture/abuse trials in the media then you'll know most of what happened there has happened at various points in the campaign at the hands of British and American troops. Obviously it was condensed into one regiment for the purposes of the drama, but don't be in any doubt that this sort of thing is/was going on.

Im not doubting the abuse happened but your post points out the point Iwas making and thus im my opinion the "drama" can not be considered a true reflection of events.

A slightly laboured point, but because the events in Saving Private Ryan didn't actually happen do you feel that it didn't give a true reflection of the wider events of WWII?

Reminds me a quote from my Dad when I told him about the film. "Oh yeah I remember the original story, they radioed to the unit to send the guy back and he walked the 2 miles back to the beach. How long is this film?"

As for the Mark of Cain, I have it to watch yet but I flicked through and it seemed a bit stereotypical.

- Army brutality
- Institutional bullying
- No respect for TA soldiers

Just hope it maintains some objectivity.
