The Microsoft Home

Hopefully I'm not the only one amazed by some of the technology on display here, in particular the kitchen and the dynamic wallpaper is quite incredible!

Imagine getting home on patch tuesday when something goes wrong though.

Probably be locked out the house, which would spontaniously catch fire (fueled by the reams of event logs being dumped in your lounge), it would have an EULA from hell and probably drink all your beer and charge you for the privilege.

Made with Windows CEMENT (a combination of Windows CE, ME, and NT)

Not that impressed personally.

Accenture have been doing stuff with RFIDs for 10 years now. There was a demonstration of an online medicine cabinet (that was developed in my office at Sophia Antipolis) on Tomorrow's World, so that shows how old it is ;) Microsoft's ideas seem very old hat to me.

The rest seems very gimmicky as opposed to actually being useable. If anything, it reminded me of episodes of the Jetsons from the 1960s, or the overly exaggerated futuristic scenes in Back to the Future.

Not sure if it's the guy's camera but also that place looks incredibly dark - presumably so that the projected displays are actually visible. Personally, I like natural light much better than artifical light. I leave the curtains open during the daytime to allow the sun in.

Agreed. Its just fancy projection. Mostly stuff you'd probably get now if you look for it and have the cash.
Microsoft are losing it if you ask me, should just give up now and leave it for the others.

note to self - dont buy a panasonic dmc-fz8, it's rubbish!

Losing what exactly?

Yes they aren't new technologies, but that's not the primary challenge of a project like this, it's integration of existing technologies for new applications.

losing their concept of whats going on in the world.
Integrating a whole heap of projectors into the home is a challenge?
