P.S. The HABU is not too far away now, hopefully only 1-2 weeks away.

Nice one lads!

Been waiting for ages for it to appear in this country somewhere :D

At last mine that is on its last legs can be replaced!

just curious, anyone know how the laser on this compares to the older 3.0A? as i heard there was a big difference to the old favourite? also i'm hoping the kept the clicking scroll wheel?

the one good thing about the Intellimouse was that it worked in both hands.
now its got a curve in it and is right hand only.
brillant.
one less mouse for me to use!

Great stuff ill have to get one of these to replace my copperhead, any more news on this or just that its due another week or so?

Got one of these delivered today, I've been using a G5 for a while and the lack of a fifth button had been annoying me so I thought this might be the mouse for me based on the glowing reports.

I've never owned the original version so I can't say how it compares but I'm really not impressed with it at all, I certainly can't see what all the fuss is about. The side buttons aren't that pleasant to use at all, they have an awful lot of travel even though they only need the slightest touch to register which has already lead to quite a few accidental clicks. The scroll-wheel is indeed 'clicky', which is how I like them, but I find it uncomfortable to use compared with the G5 wheel. It requires much more effort to scroll than it should.

With the way they've marketed it as a mouse for gaming I'm suprised at how far it lags behind the G5 response-wise too. Personally I only use the G5 at it's middle setting (800dpi I think) and after that the 3.0 feels really, really sluggish.

Maybe I'm being unfair comparing it with the G5 but at the current prices you'd have to say they're in competition for the same market, especially Microsoft heavily pushing it as a gaming mouse. The G5 beats it in every way (barring a missing button), even in the 'feel' category which is a surprise given what I've read before. It feels very cheap to me, the buttons in particular. Maybe I'm missing something, I doubt all the people who love them can be wrong.

Bah, why couldn't Logitech put an extra side button on the G5. I wonder if the MX518 would be a better choice for me.

the mx518 is pretty much perfection in a mouse, right now. its got all the buttons, none of the wireless worries and the response is right up there with the best. I was never as impressed with the intellimouse explorer 3 as i have been with the mx518:)

It depends which one you are talking about, the Intellimouse Optical was indeed symmetrical but the Intellimouse Explorer(the v3.0 and probably every other version) has always been a right-handed mouse, after all the market is bigger than for lefties. :)

I don't know what the new v3.0 is like but the old v3.0 was great, I might even still be using it if it wasn't for the fact I got a G7 and like the wirelessness of it all.

Seconded. I've used a few Intellimouse Explorers, but my 510 and my brother's 518 always felt more comfortable in the hand.

just bought 2 of these. My old 3.0a was the best mouse i've ever used and i had to get one from auction when it finally failed this year and it cost me a fortune! Hopefully these new ones are just as good

This is probably the best mouse ever made, I got myself one of the new ones last week and I'm contemplating buying another now they they're on special offer. Although it should be in the gaming mice section -.-

DQN have you owned the original explorer 3A? if so how did it compare? what is it you like about the new revision? what stands out about it? i'm going to order one of either the new or old versions next weds and want to know which is going to be better? i'm leaning towards the older style as i know this is the version most gamers prefered!

I have 2 of the older and 1 of the newer and they are pretty much identical except for the mouse wheel which i have worn down a lot on the older ones (Less clicky when scrolling). Most gamers preferred the original because there were hardly any other mice to comete with at the time. I prefer the silver look though. ;)

do you feel any in game difference i.e. tracking? sensitivity differences with the new laser? also are the mouse feet better/worse than the original? i take it the actual size and shape are identical?

Yeah, I was using the original intellimouse explorer for years, I don't see many differences. The cable is lighter, it has difference mouse feet which are very a nice and the new colour is nice, also one of the major factors of this mouse is the scroll wheel seems a lot more robust however the only problem i have is the side buttons, I was hoping they would be stiffer but they're the same. So overall not much of a difference. The drivers have some nice functions too, I would recommend the newer model though because it comes with warrenty and there's not much of a price tag difference between an older 3.0 and the newer model.
