The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot !!...

Got into the beta of this a couple of days ago, it's very basic, It's just clash of clans (the ipad game) They even have the stupid restriction where you can only build 2 things at a time unless you pay them cash.

I've played a couple of hours and I'm really not impressed, Anyone who pays has a massive advantage over none paying people, If I want to stand a chance I have to pick castles that don't have the "I've paid money" badge on them,

The Attacking gets very repetitive, Even early on I've started to find that most people use the same defence set-ups, The rewards are pointless as you can only spend gold on 2 things at a time and they both take 30 minutes+ to complete, I can't even farm as there is a stupid gold cap,

These free to play games really aren't for me, I could maybe see this being fun if I was a kid or had severely limited funds but as it is I would much rather pay for a full game than play a free to play microtransaction ridden mess

I can see you've not really read much into this game as its not a "paid to win" game as all? More of a "paid to speed up your leveling/grind" as everything in game can be grinded instead of paying for?

Yes at low level you'll only see a mixture of about 3/4monsters but once you've played for a few days (as in played for the odd half hour and level something up and leave the game while it upgrades) you'll find a whole range of traps/rooms/monsters (some monsters have 3 abilities which can really mix things up).

As for the gold cap I'm guessing you've not noticed you can level up your own gold/life force chests so they then hold more? As mine currently hold 200,000 instead of the starting 5,000?

Just stick at it and you'll get the hang of things soon enough as most things are learned via trial and error with castle design/attacking etc.

Haven't been playing this much lately, just been logging in day for 10 mins to collect my mines and do some upgrades. Nearly got 5 mines of each giving me 4500 a day, I seem to be building up gold and lifeforce at quite a rate to what I was used to lol

Barely used any of the paid currency either, haven't felt any advantage to having paid a bit to get into the beta.

This at the moment. Got all my mines to max level, trying to see how powerful my dungeon can be while still being Lv11. Currently upgrading my portal to Lv14, and then my heart will be next to Lv7. Of course this means I have silly amounts of gold lying around, and people keep trying to take it. Though 740 crowns says its hard for them to do XD

Speaking of which, I just logged into to find 33 attempts on my castle! All but 4 of them by the same guy! He lost the majority of the time, only finishing in 9 of them. And of those the fastest time was 6:53. Slowest was 9:19!
All that as a Lv14 archer against my Lv11 castle!

Edit: He's friended me! Is AT3000 a guy from here?

It's a good idea but they need to add more variety, the long pauses between builds etc simply meant I gradually stopped logging in to check how it was going!

likewise, not that I got far anyway! but yeah, Stuff would take 2-3 hours to build and I'd raid for 30 minutes, get bored of that then have nothing else to do.

Forgot about this game since i moved house and formatted my computer lol. I was pretty far with all the research but you guys are right, i was barely logging on to start something new researching. Derp farms and their like really ruin this game as there is no incentive to run other peoples castles.

Logged in to one of my old emails to find a beta code for this had been sitting for a few weeks..lost interest in this game but will still give it a shot.

EDIT: Looking past the childish crap, it didn't seem very fun. Perhaps it's better later (I was doing some of the tutorial castles so ofc it's going to be uber easy) but I'll just leave this for now I think.

today is the day of the big reset + castle changes

I moaned on the steam forum the otherday things take to long to build and had a few people back me up agreeing it would put the f2p players off and it's the f2p players that keep the paying players entertained as no one likes a barely active game and without the f2p guys you won't have the paying players either.

one of the devs responded saying watch this space.

they are clearly listening to peoples feedback and not just doing stuff on a whim as the patch notes above show.

okay they seem to have completely removed the timers for buildings so I have 2710 gems and the only things I can buy with them are castle themes or costumes :)

seems they really did listen.

going from pay2win > pay 2 have a large advantage in leveling your castle > free2play the proper way.

unless the high level castle tier stuff still has timers

one of the devs has confirmed pay2win is out

Other things you can spend your Blings on (besides themes):
Character Costumes (We've had Halloween and Winter ones in the past)
New Characters (Such as the Runaway)
Boosts! (Gold, Lifeforce, EXP, etc.)
