Don't know about the Missing Manual, but I can recommend the Andy Ihnatko books.

i've read quite a few times now that that missing manual book is excellent not read it myself tho...

iirc, the Missing Manual is more technical and in depth than the Ihnatko books. Depends what you want. Do you want a beginners guide or a technical reference book?

I've used the Tiger version and I found it excellent.

It might be worth it if you can get past the fact that David Pogue is probably the most annoying person on Apple's payroll. I prefer the "figure it out and use Google when you get stuck" approach.
