I've just come across the MK802, which is essentially a device with similar specs to budget tablets and can run either ICS or Ubuntu at the moment. It is priced at $74.

Can it run Ubuntu though? I can't find any details on that.

Still Allwinner A10 devices like the mele a1000/2000 can so I suspect this will soon.

What this really needs to run though is XBMC as the specs demolish the raspberry pi, perfect mediacentre.

According to This Site it can.

I was thinking more of use as a way to bypass the restrictions you seem to have whenever using a computer which isn't your own, but i guess being a media center would be a perfect use too.

Yeah a lot of the blogs are saying that but I don't see any custom ubuntu images available and I guess it would have to one as any standard distro won't have the Mali-400MP drivers as there not part of the kernel yet.

You have a point... I can't see an image available for download anywhere. But it definitely has decent enough specs. Seeing as I can't see that anyone has actually got one yet it's not too much of a worry though?
