The Moba Machine

A little build I had brewing for a while, finally had parts come in today so I managed to complete it.

So this build is aimed at the mainstream gamer: those who are after playing CSGO, League of Legends and Dota 2.
It's also aimed for my fellow broke students or anyone on a budget who needs something that can play games look pretty on your desk.

The parts I got from OCUK overall cost me around £180, it also helped I had an SSD and R7 260X lying around I've been hoarding from the clearance bin of my local currys.

The reason I also picked out the parts I specified below was both to leverage the quad core in the athlon for gaming with modern titles as well as well as being as reasonably cheap as possible.

As for the OS I went with win-10 Pro, I get free copies from my Uni so that was a great cost saver.

Specs:

AMD Athlon 5350
MSI Am1 Mobo
4GB Corsair Xms3
Silverstone 300W Sfx psu
OCZ arc 100 120GB SSD
Raijintek Metis - Silver
Windows 10 Pro

So took me a whole 6 hours including some game time, installing drivers and whatnot but here it is:

This is the first complete build I've also bought from OcUk so I thought I'd share this build here.

Do you guys put packets of sweets in every delivery?

Final Thoughts

So I went with the metis because it was small, I didn't really fancy getting a slim case like the raven or lian li pcq line. There are probably better options out there but it was also the aesthetics that sold me over other cases.

The final build really met the expectations I had for it. It's nothing fancy. It didn't hurt my wallet, its small and light and has enough power for mainstream gaming.

In my initial run I got about 17-20C on the Apu on idle going up to 23C under CSGO and League of Legends.

The GPU hovered around 35-40C in game which isn't too bad considering a lot of people with this case suffer throttling because the metis doesn't have any ventilation where the gpu fan is facing.

I got around any potential cooling by turning the only exhaust fan into intake for positive air pressure, letting it blow into the case and into the PSU's fan to be exhausted.

The games I ran on it aren't the most demanding. I'll just have to see if it can run more demanding titles, maybe the new fallout 4?

I'm currently running one of these cpus in a HTPC and its perfect for all the basic streaming needs and even plays league of legends at 75fps on low to medium settings. Impressive!

I also have that same motherboard. Nice setup. :)

Crackin wee build, nicely done.

You don't have to use spoiler tags in a log unless you have huge pics. Be better without them.
