try and get as a fast a shutter speed and low an ISO as possible with the closest aperture possible to the sweet spot of the lens, there's a degree of subtle enhancement in PP to bring out some sharpness, clarity and contrast then.
IS off on tripod of course, zoomed in as much as possible (this was shot at 600mm). I used Evaluative metering although you could experiment, and i actually think that the conditions might have helped, it was a very clear morning, just before sunrise. I always use manual focusing but for this shot I'm pretty sure it was actually autofocus!
