I recently go a tripod and having failed abismally taking photos of the moon before I decided to have another go. It's a 100% crop with some major sharpening done to it, nothing else. Taken with my Canon 75-300 IS.:)

Thats looks pretty good, ive never tried the moon, didnt think it was possible with a standard zoom.

One time, I saw a man looking at me, yes, with his eyes. And then, he, he picked up a tube. And he looked, in the tube, and he made the moon big, inside the tube. The moon big inside a tube!

:D

Haha, love the Boosh :)

Lot better than my s5600!

I would adjust the levels slightly to make the background black, currently it looks slightly uneven/noisey.

The first time I tried it it came out shockingly, :( . If I actually wanted to print it out I would need a lot longer lens, probably around the 1000mm mark. The glory of 800x600 makes all the difference. :p

Hmm I can't see that. But I will take it back to PS and have a go. :)

Cool moon, i tried this with a Sigma 300mm zoom lens and was surprised by the results.

ps. What do you mean when you say a 100% crop. Does that mean that you didn't crop it at all? Thanks

It means you have 1:1 pixel ratio. So your 800x600 picture is infact a 800x600 section out of the whole however many megapixel image. ~I think thats what it means anyway.

The 100-400 is a lens I would get in an instant if I had the money. One of the guys on TP has one of them and a 2x and 1.4x TC. Overall length of about 1200mm.

Really like the moon shot, nice composition but I maybe wouldn't have cropped it as much, imo it's looking a little bit too soft.
