Bought a standard rev 3 MR2 turbo last year. Had it 4 months before detonation killed one of the pistons.

Rebuilt it with this turbo

And promptly cracked the block.

Have just had the block back from being sleeved and the head is away to get modified now also. Here are a few shots of the engine and BMIC before I tore it down again. Apologies for poor quality- its a nokia E51

Car is entirely home built, apart from the machine work to the block and head!

Spec is

2.0 3SGTE with CP Pistons and crower rods
ACL race bearings
ARP everything
Rebalanced crank
Totalseal gapless top ring set
1000cc injectors
AEM EMS (Had link G3 on last build, but it was too basic for my needs)
Garrett GT3582 turbo
30x12x4'' Boot mount intercooler
in tank walbro 255 lph pump
external Bosch 044 motorsport fuel pump, feeding swirl pot mounted in boot
aeromotive fpr
HKS 264 exhaust and 272 inlet camshafts
Fidanza vernier pulleys
Big valve head, ported and gasflowed, and gasket matched
Sleeved block
RPS 525 lb/ft clutch
HKS head gasket
OEM gaskets & belts
Home made downpipe & screamer pipe (I can TIG quite well thankfully)
Tial 38mm wastegate with CNC machined turbo adapter plate on stock exhaust manifold
Monster K&N air filter
lightened flywheel
Rebuilt gearbox with cusco 2-way LSD
CRW Inner CV joints
HiSpec brake calipers all round
Cusco zero-2 coilover suspension (FAR too stiff!!)

Im waiting on a JUN style inlet manifold and enlarged TB. Once I get that I will hopefully have the head back also and ready to try for some big numbers!

Which rev block/head comb are you using on that?

Those sort of mods would probably give you a good 400? A lot of the GT4 boys are going for Motec ECUs over others atm, never heard anyone describe the Link G3 are too few features though!

I'll be hoping for north of 500. It was the LEM G3 that I had - the cut down one.

The AEM is kick ass in comparison.

Its a sleeved rev 3 block.

Cool, I know a lot of people regard the Rev 1 block as being the strongest, but if you've got it sleeved it don't really matter. Who's doing the mapping?

Just noticed the BMIC too on there, looks interesting! Lot of work to install?

Ill get Ryan from 2bar to map it.

The BMIC wasnt really that difficult - section cut out of the floor, then i had to make a heat shield to stop the exhausts affecting it, blanked off the right hand side vent so the air flows in to the boot, and out the bottom.

youre right there. I have just got a new bootlid for her with two extractor fans - that should hopefully help a bit!

I have a turbo jacket for the hot side of the turbo also

I have never seen an intercooler mounted in the boot, does it actually work in such a confined space?

true, there is also now 2 x 12 inch fans on top of it also and a cowling. Fans are controlled by ECU using one of the aux outputs and IAT

Nice one. That should be great fun once finished :D

Done anything much to the rest of the car or just worked on the engine?

Hah I love the BMIC! Lots of effort there, eh.

As Hunders, what does the rest of the car look like? I am hoping it's almost original, maybe the subtle mods to make it look a bit prettier... but no more!
