Hi there

OK you guys have been waiting a long time for this and to prevent further delays MSI have scrapped the backlit keyboard for the UK version to get them here before Christmas.

The specification is rather incredible, but how about you just check it out for yourself:-

MSI GT780DXR-290UK 17.3" WLED TFT Intel I7-2630QM, 8GB DDR3, 1.5tb HDD, NVIDIA GTX 570M 1.5GB GDDR5 Graphics, Win7 Home Premium 64-Bit - Back/Red @ £1,499.99 inc VAT

What do gamers desire most? MSI knows best! In GT780DX, MSI not only conducted research with the world-class team Fnatic, but also collaborated with SteelSeries, a leading manufacturer of professional gaming peripherals, to develop a “gamer’s keyboard” never before seen in gaming notebooks. GT780DX provides you the best gaming experience!

GT780DX has a 17-inch Full HD screen, which projects a vibrant visual effect. The latest top-end NVIDIA Geforce GTX570M graphic card with 1.5GB GRDDR5 memory gives the notebook an extraordinary gaming performance. GT780DX is fully compatible with DX11, which provides an ultra-smooth and vivid three-dimensional visual experience.

In order to present the best sound effects, the GT780DX speakers are uniquely configured. Besides the two side speakers projected toward the user, there is also a subwoofer sound hole at the bottom. This configuration immerses gamers into a realistic, three-dimensional battlefield experience.

The exterior design of the GT780DX combines the classic, succinct appearance of a limousine with the aerodynamic contour of a spacecraft creating a low-key composure but powerful image. The black casing of the GT780DX is specially covered with brushed aluminum, coupled with the silver msi logo, it makes the GT780DX a symbol of the coexistence of textural quality and ultimate performance.

To avoid accidentally touching the touch pad while gaming, the GT780DX is equipped with a control switch for the touch pad on the side of the keyboard

hmm, beats that 'true gaming laptop' made by razer by miles, and is a grand cheaper.

epic win comes to mind

MSI are very very fair when it comes to profit they make giving the customer better deal, I suspect Razer have a lot more profit in theirs.

Yes the MSI is the far better buy! :)

Having no backlit keyboard is a huge deal to me and I can imagine many others would agree. I wouldn't touch any laptop without one nowadays, especially when in the market for buying a gaming laptop. Shame really, as I was holding out for MSI's new range after returning my XPS.

Unfortunately MSI can't make a backlit version in UK format, certainly not this year. :(

Cracking deal :) How many pre orders do you have already gibbo? I'm guessing this is not the kind of thing I could feasibly take on the train up to Plymouth once a week?

What does this phrase mean in the description ?
GT780DX is fully compatible with DX11, which provides an ultra-smooth and vivid three-dimensional visual experience.

I can't see any mention on the spec that it has a 3D screen, but the above phrase appears to suggest it does ?

So you said :(

Shame really but then I shouldn't be so surprised, the UK does get shafted left, right and centre in the laptop market.

If its really an issue, order a us keyboard and plug it in. Done it with a uk xps 17, worked a treat.

2 already and this is more a desktop replacement than something for on the move. :)

Gutted! I can't justify getting rid of my desktop when the performance is that much better than this in games (double and then some 3dm11).

Any suggestion for a slightly more mobile unit?
