Carl "Braindead Moron" Edwards might have taken the pole, and Marcus Ambrose might have led for a short while, but Juan Montoya took the win with probably the drive of his NASCAR career. Fantastic race.
His second win in NASCAR Cup competition, coming off the back of two races (Indy and Pocono) that he could have won with some better tyre calls from pit road. Apparently after Pocono, where the radio chatter from car to pit was 'frank, bordering on direct' (to borrow from Bernard Woolley), the team called a meeting to clear the air. Nice way to bounce back I guess! He led the majority of the race in the end, having conserved his brakes early on so that he'd have enough left in the car to pound out some seriously fast laps after the last restart from a yellow flag.
It's probably too late to get a Chase spot unfortunately (Montoya is now 19th in the standings, 205 points behind Mark Martin in the 12th and final Chase position). Michigan is up next, where he finished 13th in June - I'm sure he'll be looking to build on this weekend and maybe get that elusive first NASCAR oval track win.
