The NC500 for the elderly artist?

After doing the Great Glen in August, my mother has expressed an interest in doing a leisurely trip of the NC500 next year. Painting is her hobby. I will be driving her. She is in her mid 80s and not very mobile, so I would much appreciate suggestions as to where to stay overnight and where to pause for good sketches. She prefers sketching castles and buildings. Weather permitting, of course. I think we will be going in late April or early May.

Screw the nc500. Come to Northumberland. Most castles in any county in the UK.

I'll see you Northumberland and raise you Aberdeenshire.

I would say:
-Eilean Donan castle (not on nc500 - detour required)
-"The red roofed house", Shieldaig
-Ardvreck castle, Inchnadamph
-Kylesku bridge (from the layby on the north side)
-Dounreay "Golf Ball" (nuclear reactor, if that sort of thing interests her. Check details nearer the time because it's scheduled for demolition in 2022)
-Duncansby Head lighthouse, John O Groats
-Dunrobin castle, Golspie

Good stuff, keep it coming. And detours aren't a problem.
