A potato salad!? Yes, apparently the next big thing in the world of crowdfunded development is somebody asking for money to... make a potato salad. For this trying task, the people organising the project have so far managed to accrue a princely sum of $44,743 (as of the time of writing).

So, I think this is clearly absurd. It's bizarre that people would even think about giving them any money at all. People are saying that this is the first thing like this to happen; is it? I don't know to be honest. I kind of wonder if this is an example of people falsely paying themselves publicly to make it look like it has already gained traction in the hope that people will try and 'join the bandwagon'.

Idiots will back anything and may even do for a laugh, like give £10 same as mad items on E-Bay like the guy selling a matchbox containing his pubes.

Kickstarter will loose respect if they do not stop these BS "projects".

I seen a list of failed ones a few weeks ago and some where better than a potato salad.

It's interesting actually. What if there are lots of copy cats, people end up getting competitive about funding the most popular ridiculous idea and this just becomes the norm?

Already posted dude.

Ah, yeah I didn't get it off that thread! (didn't even notice it when I did a brief scan to see if anybody else had made a similar topic...) Still, I think it illustrates something interesting about the social dynamic of Kickstarter. Kind of like the whole thing where people were selling iPhones with Flappy Bird installed on eBay for ridiculous sums of money.

Still, as far as the thread goes, I say if she sinks, she sinks. If not, let 'er sail.
