The nightmare that is display port 2.1, featuring the Radeon W7800

I think it's high time they bit the bullet and mandated that the next version of DP use fibre cables. While we're at it, do the same for all the other high-speed interconnects, so I don't have to put up with the stupidly short maximum length of USB cables.

This issue also exists with usb c cables.

A big problem for this also comes from people's reluctance to upgrade standards of tech and so many people do not own full spec usb c cables.

Do you think many gamers bought hdmi 2.1 cables separately?

People are also the problem, if they don't adopt new standards then manufacturers put little effort into it's production

Even when I bought a 1440p/165Hz monitor years ago, I found that none of the DisplayPort cables I owned would reliably work at that resolution/refresh (including the one that came with said monitor). I'd get regular dropouts even with the best of them. In the end I spent £20 on a Club3D cable that was officially VESA-certified. It's a thick, unwieldy thing, but it's never given me any problems - though obviously it isn't rated for DP 2.1 speeds either.
