It's only been confirmed to affect few games (persona Q and pokemon moon) because some 3DS game cartridges were manufactured cheaply and are more prone to degradation then others.

Interesting. I heard a rumor a while ago that the same would happen to the WiiU console if you didn't fire it up for a long time. No idea it also happened to cartridge games. I guess I'd better go through them all soon.

Yeah the Wii U has a Nand chip brand that can go bad. Hynix.

This happened to me with my Pokémon Omega Ruby. Game no longer boots in any of my 3DS consoles.

I soft modded my 3DS so I could dump the cart to get my save file. It would get to 80% and show an error. Lost everything

Yeah it’s probably me being picky as would want the new 3ds xl with the ips screen and they are more expensive then a switch and some approaching switch 2 pricing which seems a little crazy.

I spent a lot on this one, more than I probably should have have, but nostalgia got the better of me. I have to face it I am just a gaming nerd, I also go gym, am married, have tons of other hobbies, but man I am a nerd

How much are IPS panels going for in a regular XL? Can they be modded or is it not worth the faff? It is a great console and worth owning.

Yeah the modding aspect is great, easy to do and it's a perma mod so need to mess with anything on boot like the Switch etc. You can add a custom store, makes looking for new stuff really easy. We've got a bunch of games installed and multiplayer works great with my kids 3DS too. Like you say it is a great console, some of the games can only be played on it, haven't been ported to other Nintendo consoles.

Oh I meant the screen . I have a modded N3DS, but very outdated. I should probably look at some of the newer methods. I remember the old non-perm method from way back when and wish the Switch found a perm solution!

Ha, ah got you. Yeah the Switch hack just got annoying, whenever you had to reboot with the jig.
