10 years ago OcUK commenced trading from a 6ft square office with yours truly buying stock, answering the phone, packing orders and designing the website. That website, even since our early days featured forums and together with the business has grown to be amongst the most popular in the UK.

Each year key forum members who have made an exceptional contribution to the quality and success of the forums over the years are recognised through our Man of Honour awards. This year there are 5, and here they are.

Gilly - What can I say about Gilly. The time, effort and dedication this guy has put into the forums over the years has been incredible. We are extremely lucky to have had him as part of the moderating and admin team.

2blue4u - Blue pretty much ran these forums for a number of years and went far beyond what could reasonably be expected from an admin. It's no exaggeration to say he's one of our founding fathers and I'm personally very grateful for all that he has done.

[TW]Fox - A true marmite character but there is no doubt at all that he has contributed in a huge way to the quality of the forums for many years.

rpstewart - A truly superb member whos generosity and consideration knows no limits. We are proud to have you in our community.

bigredshark - A popular choice with the dons he epitomises the concept of "learn and share" which we feel is an integral part of our community.

Ladies and gentlemen please put your hands together for the 5 OcUK Men of Honour 2009

Perhaps I could have phrased it differently, but my point stands.

I feel strongly that this 'Men of Honour' award is divisive and unnecessary. It obviously devalues the contributions that all of the other members make on a daily basis, and the criteria used to select the recipients is a mystery to me, and I am sure, most other people.
Would it surprise you to know that I personally short-listed you?

It would actually, for a number of reasons; while I try to help where I can there are far more deserving people than me, I can be very emotional in what I post, I do not suffer fools gladly and as a consequence am skating on thin ice as far as the Mods go a lot of the time.

A spade is a spade and I'll say what I think. I'm not sure you'd want me as a MoH for those reasons.
Simple. You have made a considerable contribution to the forums over the years, most of it being positive.

MoH's don't have to be "star pupils" but they must have played a significant role in the forums' success.

A few of this year's recipients haven't posted yet. Hopefully that will change soon :)

Thanks Mark :) Well done everyone else too.
You are very welcome. in consideration of everything you have put into the forums over the years it's the very least we could do :)

... and great to see you posting

So what are you saying we cannot say/think that the Dons/mods have made a mistake??
You can, but it won't change anything.

However, there's expressing your opinion and there's hijacking a thread. This thread is for congratulating the MoH 2009. If you don't want to congratulate one or all of them, that's entirely your choice, but at least have some manners and don't post in it.

I think some people are taking this Man of Honour award a bit too far.

It's not as if he's been gifted £50,000 for his services to the forum. Fox has a new avatar, THAT'S IT!

What special priviledges has he recieved now he's a MoH? None.
OcUK Amex card, 599 for a week, 2 week use of company villa in Caribbean. Oh yes, and the avatar :D
