Those who run thew card under water with these low temps are you using v-sync or are the cards limited to 60fps?

I am after reading this thread thinking there is something wrong with my loop thats is only a few months and i am getting much higher temps than most of you.. although I am running the cards @ 144hz so its being pushed more.

My loop goes GPU>CPU>360RAD>PUMP>GPU

I tried a more aggressive fan profile on the 3 fans i have blowing air out of the top of the case through the rad and it knocked the temp in overwatch down by about 5 degrees but it still seems higher than most.

Mine in the early 50's are at either 4K/60Hz or 1440p/165Hz. G-Sync, no VSync.

Rads are 240 at the front (intake), 360 at the top (exhaust), both on push.

Room ambient is around 18C.

Pump is an EK DDC 3.2, GPU's are connected parallel.

Loop goes PUMP>GPU>GPU>CPU>360RAD>240RAD>PUMP

Idle or under full load?

36C under full load overclocked even under water I am calling BS.

MSI Seahawk 1080 in custom loop with 360 rad and CPU

GPU Max Clock 2012
Memory +400 from base

Max temp 72 which was in Overwatch at 2560x1080 with all settings at Ultra @ 144Hz gsync

Just to give you an idea of how hot your gpu is - I have a EVGA 1080 SC which I have fitted a Hybrid unit to. It is cooled with a single 120mm rad and fan. The highest temp I have seen is 48 degrees, which was in BF1.

I run a 2560x1440 Gsync screen so the usage is usually 99% and my clocks are

2079 on the core, although as the temp approaches 40 and upwards the voltage drops the clocks down to 2050mhz. (memory is stock).

I think something is wrong with the cooling of your card as you should be seeing much lower than even 60 degrees, let alone 72.

Gigabyte FE 1080.

2030ish max on the core. I've had it further but started crashing randomly on benchmarks. Seemed to be fine when gaming but I'm too nervous playing it that high. Not really a benchmark guy. Only fiddle with it now and again.

So;

2030 core
Mem: around 350-380 from base.

That's with overclocking which I don't do often. Runs perfectly fine on stock with the current crop of games. Once it gets more demanding, I'll start pushing it a bit.

What's the max anyone has got on the ram ?

Cant be too bothered. With all the error correction you can overclock the ram way past what gives you the best performance.

I settled on +550 as I have better things to do than find out in repeat benchmarks whether +600 is faster than +550 and then again at +650 etc

Thanks for the info...

I'm looking to seep every bit out of my 1080 for BF1 but the cpu is the one that is getting hammered lol

wow that's low whats the ambient temp in your room like?

that's the highest gpu temp i have.. most of the time hovers around 60.. some games seem to just push it that bit further.. CPU in the loop never hits above 50 so cooling seems fine.

the sea hawk has the EK block pre fitted

He forgot to mention he works and lives on an Ice breaker currently docked at McMurdo. :D

depends on noise.

you might get an extra 13 or 26Hz from watercooling but thats it.

So long as you can lvie with the noise from your fan, its not worth swapping

You can also gain more stable clocks by going with water, depending on your temps on air. Was trying out the MSI X EK 1080 and was constantly 2100MHz out of the box at 36c Max. Being fed by a 280 Predator, nothing else in the loop.

Zotac 1080 Amp Spectra
Idle 30c load 70c (Room temp 20c)

Out of the box boost i am seeing 2063 dropping to 2000 as temps rise, it hasn't dropped below 2000 yet even after 4 hours playing BF4 and BF1, (in a well ventilated case).

Very impressed with it :)
