***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

Right Im now on the market for a netbook but as everyone else there millions, looking as close to the 250 mark as possible.

Seen this Asus Eee PC 904HD BK002 and I know its not got the Atom but have a few Q's :)

Whats the realistic difference between the atom and the celeron in these?

I plan on getting the Hd version as I hear the SSds cant quite keep up?

Thanks for the info guys

I got my extended battery today, I have to say I'm quite impressed. Build quality is decent and it lasts a lot longer than the original.

Settings used:

50% brightness
100% volume (50% in VLC player), CX300 headphones plugged in.
Wi-Fi On
Camera Off

Looping a video

Standard 4400Mah battery - 2h 52m

10,400Mah - 6h 28m

I'll update later with some pics and the final time it lasted, it's a bit big but makes it nicer to type on and adds some ventilation. Weight wise it adds around 200g so the EeePC is still very portable.

Cost - £28 delivered

Did you import it or something? I wanted another battery for my holidays but I've left it too late, need somewhere that does next day delivery and cheaper than £40

Mate get an Acer Aspire One instead they are fantastic.

When my EEE starts and gets to the desktop, there's a pause for some reason while the network comes up it seems, anyone know why?

I'm finally buying my EEE PC next week, Will this RAM work on my EEEPC?

Appreciate it if anyone can help, noticed this is 800mhz but most at 667mhz.

Its such a shame the 900 suffers from the same battery drain problem and low runtime. The 901 seems perfect but it is priced at a mental price! £300?!

Hi guys,

im new to the eee PC game, me and my business partner would both like one and wondered is the 904HD with XP on it the best for is? We list on eBay a lot and need to be mobile with them.

Battery life is essential and mobility is. Hard drive space is good and something that isnt sluggish.

Seen the 904HD for £260 delivered.

901 linux 20gb is £287 and has better battery life and SSD.

... Has an atom 1.6ghz, is lighter, cooler, silent, and better battery life.

Why do you need lots of HDD space to post eBay listings exactly?

Ill be storing a lot of photies on it and may have the odd game like broken sword and monkey island. Could always have them on my 4gb Pen though right?

Well it's your choice, but I couldn't be happier with my 901, solid state in mobile devices is definitely the future.

Whats the gloss finish like on the 901? I'm not a fan of gloss casing at all, i'm guessing the white one shows up fingerprints a lot less than the black?

I'm still leaning towards the 901. The Aspire looks very nice but its battery life isn't all that, have read that the SSD is very slow on the ones, have seen a lot of disappointment about this and reports that XP is quite sluggish when installed on the SSD. Dunno if anyone can add any light to that here? To me having a mechanical harddrive goes against the grain of my idea of netbooks!

I would say design wise I do like the look of the Aspire one over the 901 and it's keyboard looks a lot more user friendly.

What keeps pulling my interest back to the the 901 is it has quite a lot of 3rd party battery products for it, can pick up a 8,800mA battery for around £30 mark off the bay, would give you a staggering 6 hours runtime with wifi on!
