Really looking forward to it this year, plenty of cars and hopefully plenty of action. Might try and make it to Thruxton this year.

What are your thoughts ?

Yeah for sure. I went off it a few years back but I will be keenly following it this year. I just hope the racing is exciting.

Tipping Chilton / Neal for the title.

I love it when a plan comes together. Gf is going to her mums on Sunday leaving me with all day free to stock up on nachos and beer and watch the ITV live coverage all day: )

Ah nice one. I nearly fell over after this conversation....

Me : We are not planning to do anything Sunday ?

Missus : No, I suspect we'll be hung over so we can chill all day.

Me : Oh ideal, I wont be up for anything as the Touring cars starts this weekend but its on from 11am - 6pm.

Missus : Yeah that's cool, we could chill out on the sofa and watch it together as I like the Touring cars...........

Me : "raised eyebrow"  :D

Really enjoyed the racing at the weekend. It reminded me a bit of the old days- cars flying everywhere and general carnage. More of the same please :D

Neal suffers broken hand

Matt Neal, one of the favourites for this year's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title, has suffered a broken hand in a martial arts training session.

Honda driver Neal was told this morning by doctors that he had broken his fifth metacarpal – the connecting his little finger to his wrist – in his right hand.

The injury was sustained while Neal undertook his Second Dan examination in street fighting at the weekend.

The setback comes just a week after he lost the lead of the BTCC following a high-speed spin in his Honda Racing Civic at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk.

The Worcestershire racer is currently third in the standings with Knockhill in Fife, one of the most physical tracks on the calendar, next up in little more than a fortnight on 4 September.

Neal, aged 44 and who won back-toback BTCC titles in 2005 and 2006, told btcc.net: “It’s self-inflicted – I was sparring and I felt something was wrong. I knew I’d done something. It’s just got worse from then – my hand ballooned up like a comedy hand – so I got myself to the hospital this morning.

“It feels very tender and my hand’s in a splint. I’ve also had internal bleeding in my palm. I’ve got to go back to hospital the weekend before Knockhill to have it checked again. Of all the places it would have to be Knockhill next… a lovely twisty circuit where we have to fling the cars around. Snetterton and now this…

“Luckily it’s not my gearshift hand but I am feeling a bit fed up.”

And Neal added: “I’ll be racing at Knockhill, no question about it. I might have to go and visit Dr (Paul) Trafford (the BTCC’s chief doctor) for some of his magic medicine.”
