Hi all,

I have just finished installing my new PSU in my Conroe rig,
I will post screenies soon!

I know Devious and Maddness have their rigs already up and running so it would be cool guys if you could post some screenies and settings etc.. in this thread.

Get it off to a Flying start

Very nice, what cooling are you using?

At the moment silent air,

Zalman 9500 on slowest setting,

Temps seems ok too 44c under full load.

Excellent! So what RAM did you end up buying?

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 cause I heard it does over 1ghz in speed

my opty 170 at 2.8ghz did super PI 32mb in 26 mins.

My conroe does the same in 16mins at 3.1ghz

Well I'm going to have to watch what the first wave of people find out about the best bits of kit. I'm quite happy spending more if the performance boost is good. At the moment though I don't know about any of this. Does conroe exploit dividers like A64 chips, in which case good ram is less essential ? Or is it all about the FSB in which case the faster the better? For that matter are the motherboards going to get much better, will they support SLi?

I think i'll be researching for at least a month before I'm ready to pick my poison when it comes to this technology.

get the 800 stuff like the g skill HZ to keep 1:1 with your cpu.
These things are great clockers by initial tests and dont need voltage for good overclocks

I think the D975bx-304 is expensive for what it is... everyone's getting excited about it but expect there'll be lots of boards just as good if not better and certainly cheaper by early Sept. Patience will pay off!

Its a robust board that can handle high FSB.With rock solid stablity.

And of course there will be cheaper mobo's in sept when something is new tech you pay,when things become more available price drops occur.

at 3.1ghz my temps are 61c under full load dual prime with a zalman 9500 on slowest setting

That's actually *quite* good for a load temp...

Well its rock stable at this speed on stock volts not rushing just as yet will take my time raising fsb.

Not sure what hot and whats not (temp wise)with these new chips lol

thats not bad considering your on air, although im sure my temp is much lower with the aquagate, what are you using for monitor the temps?

i'll give it a whirl when i get home.

These things seem to overclock as good as the prescotts, and almost run as hot as well.

soooooooooooooooooooooo much faster though!

Trounces my opty 170 at 2.8ghz in everything it does lol!

Must admit though its so hot in the room where my pc is today!

Did the volt mod on the badaxe that unlocks loads of treasures in the bios
Still at stock vcore.
