***The Official Core i3 Overclocking Thread***

Not 100% sure yet, maybe a 530.

I'm torn between and 530 and a i5 750

I will be getting an EVGA mobo I think as they have s775 mounting holes so I can just use my old waterloop without faffing changing blocks and stuff.

They do p55 and H55 mobos with s775 holes.

Just need to decide on the chip.

damn it this is tempting!

Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard £74.99
Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156) - OEM £88.99
what happened to the geil dual channel 4gb 2133 kit? £75?

Its good to see the OEM 530...looks like this is probably my route now.

Overclockers staff....What about getting some H55 EVGA mobos in?

And that Geil Ram?

hello everyone

i just bought a i3 530, an asrock H55m Pro, and 2x2gb gskill (not geil) ripjaw ddr3-2000 memory.

i plan on overlcocking the crap out of this on just an arctic freezer 7! i can post back with results thursday. i didnt see a reason to go with the P55, since this chip has the video you might as well get a H55 motherboard, unless you want to run two video cards someday (i never do!)

Will be interested to see how that mobo clocks.

I loved Asrock mobo when building systems on the cheap for people. :p

How much was it?

Welcome to the fourms

thanks

was $110 (might have been shipping, i cant remember. right now i have my e5200 running at 3.7ghz on the cheapest asrock 775 matx mobo you can buy... it came free with the purchase of the cpu for $100 shipped all that time ago. been running at that speed since i got it, asrock is top notch in my book (long time asus fan too). the board doesnt even support cpu voltage adjustments either, i had to slap conductive paint on the bottom of the cpu to raise the VID just to get it to o/c!

this i3 should be nearly as fast as my o/cd e5200, and once i o/c the i3 i should see a hefty gain in speed. i really bought this stuff to get off the ich7 chipset, its far too outdated for my tastes. im sure later on ill find a 1156 i7 cpu for cheap as well... and if nothing else, ill have really good ddr3 ram out of all this :D

Dude remove the link to competitor.

You must be from the US?

Just got a i3 530, Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H and OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9

Initial clocking results are looking very promising had a quick play last night and got it to 4Ghz booting on stock volts (didn't have time to test stability but it booted windows fine) and I got 4.4Ghz on 1.32v will do some stability tested tonight and see if I can push anymore

Got it under a H-50-1 so temps are cool 20's idle and max I saw with quick ten min run of IBT was 65c that was when it was clocked to 4.4Ghz @1.32v

Whats max safe voltage I can pump through this little chip?

Thats very exciting.

If i can have a 530 at 4.5ghz without undue vcore pumping through it and it being on the edge of its life I will be happy.
