***The Official Core i3 Overclocking Thread***

Just starting my OC for this i3 system, and was wondering what the general concensus is for the QPI link speed? I saw an article that mentioned that it should be the same as the CPU speed or as close as it can be. Would this improve stability/performance or does it not make any difference. For reference my i3 is sat at 3.96 Ghz (22x180) and the QPI is at 2.88 GHz currently running at 1.28V on the core.

hello guys, sorry to bump,

but i am looking to get the i3 530 and overclock it to atleast 4.0ghz, now
The motherboard i am looking to get is this : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-239-GI

anyone have experience of it ?

i am looking into this board as it has the usb 3.0 and 6gbs SATA, and i'm looking to future proof it abit, so this seems like new technology, Also my new hdd is 6gbs version so i would like to use it at its full potential.

Also is there a guide for overclocking this chip? i remember there being a guide for the e8400 + asus p5k.

thanks in advance

What is the performance difference between the overclocked i3, i5 and i7 systems?

I am currently running system in sig at stock because my cpu gets to hot when overclocking and crashes.

I do a lot of video encoding for websites, how much faster would I be able to encode the content using the i3 overclocked bundle compared to Q6600?

I thought the QPI was best set to double the CPU speed?, so if ure cpu was at 4ghz, then the qpi was best set is 8ghz?????

So on the i3 chips should QPI be set as close as possible to the cpu, or should it be double?? IE

CPU 4.0GHz
QPI 4.0GHz

or should it be double

CPU 4.0GHz
QPI 8.0GHZ
