im not arguing over it, or changing thread titles
I personally only want to see how I5's are doing.
Will post results tomorrow I only have the stock heatsink but have the adapter for the Noctua on its way but could be a week or so.
Arrived and installed. Just sat at stock whilst I check everything.
I notice the speedstep is more advanced, it has several drops in speed rather just one.
I'd imagine the average user never pushes it anywhere near OCCT levels so for intel that cooler is adequate.
Are these i5's any good at overclocking then? To the likes of over 4Ghz.
Well my build is done but I'm still making sure windows and everything is sorted before I even touch the clocking.
4ghz appears to be the normal sort of figure these are hitting from what I've seen. Oh it may not be worth it for you but for a 280 quid rig if it hits 4Ghz I will be very pleased.
Gskill stuff seems good. Wish I had gone for the 7-7-7 stuff as I clicked on 8-8-8 by mistake (its only a few quid more).
You only have 2 QPI (16 and 18) options so if you want to go over 200BCLK comfortably you really need RAM rated at over PC12800, but with the tightest possible timings hence;

Corsair Dominator GT - but it's double the money. You know me, I even drove there to pick it up.
The rolleyes was at myself. Please consider that an apology. The advice was freely given and intended to be helpful.
I'm afraid not. The S1156 sits exactly mid-way between the spacing for S775 and S1366. I'm using an EK Supreme which has a slot cut in each corner. At the inside edge of the slot you get S775, S1366 is the outside edge of the slot and somewhere in the middle is S1156. When I first saw the EK Rev II plate I thought Eddie had excelled himself at some cheapskate way of not having to drill a precise hole, but now I appreciate the smart thinking behind it.
OK - Don't look at the voltage. I said DON'T LOOK AT THE VOLTAGE.
