***The Official Core i5 Overclocking Thread***

Did a full test, 20 loops and it passed :)

Running it back at stock now as Im hardly using the PC for anything intensive so stock speeds are fine and save a bit of power with speedstep lol

Guys i have the Asus P7P55D and Core i5 750

Currently i can stable at 3.8Ghz.. with

Cpu voltage: 1.27v
Imc: 1.15
Pch: 1.15
Dram: 1.6
BCLK: 180 x 21

Cant go Above 3.8ghz.

Can anyone please help me with the voltages here.
I would like to reach 4.0 Ghz atleast.

People with Asus P7P55D can be very helpful.

thank you.

I set my IMC voltage to 1.25v and my CPU voltage to 1.4v.

I worked down from 1.4 on CPUv to find an unstable voltage, then knocked it back up a tad. My RAM's at 1.65v just now, not had a chance to work on that yet. IMC voltage also remains at 1.25 just now.

I also experimented with 21x190 and 20x200. But 20x200 is better to get your RAM working at 1600MHz (if you have 1600 MHz RAM that is :) )

Hope that helps.

You may need to up the vcore to 1.3v

Mines at

Vcore : 1.3v
DRAM : 1.6v ( isnt an option for 1.65v )
BLK : 200x20

Everything else is on stock settings.

What temps are you getting with 1.4v?

Can I ask a question...

If you have a mobo which a LGA775 Socket, would you have to a buy a new up to date mobo with a LGA1156 Socket to be able to fit the i5 and i7?

what about IMC PCH and CPU PLL???

Don't remember mate, but I'm now down to 1.328v on the CPU, temps 68-73, on the virtually the same rig as yours. When I get the time, I hope a bit of tweaking here and there will drop those temps further by a few degrees.

Yes, you'd need a skt1156 motherboard for i5 750 or i7 860. i7 920 and above are skt 1366 motherboards.

Testing 4Ghz now I finally have my Corsair H50 1156 Bracket after what seems like a lifetime. Liking the temps so far!

It has Hyper Threading and Turbo Boost but isnt the same as an i7 860, clocked lower as it only has a 19x multiplier rather than 21x like the 860. The equivalent Xeon processor is actually a bit more expensive than the 860 so not much help!

Nice idea though

i didnt say it was same speed as a 860, i meant same features

i left the specs link for you to decipher

it is a decent chip for a decent price, ive had all 3 of them

x3440 is a better buy than a 750 in my books

i5 750 = £150

i7 860 = £226

now there is a "in between" as im sure to some a £76 leap may be too much

dont know how much ocuk will sell them for but ive seen them at £161 inc

... oh and these xeons can take a max 32gb of ram, over the 16 of the i5/i7, though i doubt that would be any form of a selling point :p

Seem to have a problem getting core 3 stable craps out after about 20 mins more jiggawatts required? at 1.35v atm actual load

Adding 4Ghz prime stable shot

Happy as larry for this, room for 4.2Ghz and more voltage I think with the cooling I have but 4Ghz was the magic goal so I'll stick there. Right, time for bed :)
