***The Official Core i5 Overclocking Thread***

what exactly is wrong with this stepping?

nothing as yet. but it is a new chip on a new socket, and as with previous new releases, as they get to grips with the process, take on board feedback from sys builders etc, there will be the inevitable tweaks leading to a new stepping, which is usually an improvement over the initial release stepping.

Well, as long as LLC is on on the GD65 you can boot into windows at 4GHz with 1.225V set in BIOS and it'll run prime for a half an hour or so. It needs 1.35V in BIOS (roughly 1.4V after LLC) to be 8hr Prime 95 stable though.

I'm currently trying to get a 4.4GHz suicide shot:rolleyes:

Can anyone explain what the following are used for:

LLC
VTT
PLL
MCH
IMG

Don't want to be over volting because I didn't know what it means!!:o

Gskill stuff seems good. Wish I had gone for the 7-7-7 stuff as I clicked on 8-8-8 by mistake (its only a few quid more).

Just bagged myself a P55 GD65 for £63 :D Cheers ken1307

Will get a 750 under water ASAP.

What ram shall I get?

Well played, just picked up a Corsair H50, decided against the Noctua. So I guess I'm under water too :p

You really, honestly, honestly, should have got the Noctua. You will regret buying that Corsair. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day....

Believe me I've gone over and over it and the H50 works out around 4-5c cooler everytime (than the Noctua). I wanted the best for my money. Plus I like how little space it takes up.

I've been using water cooling for a while now and I've seen these things come and go and I bought one, but it's not that good. I appreciate what you're saying, but one day...
