***The Official Core i7 Overclocking Thread***

I would say that anything thats stable is likely to be "safe" since voltage is the parameter that will kill a chip the quickest.

My current C0 chip will do 3.8ghz at 1.325v, any more MHz after that and the voltage skyrockets up.

Whats considered a safe 24/7 full load temp?

Depends on your i7 cowbow status! Either way above 80 degress seems to be a nono i try to stay below 75, 4ghz isw easy for air+d0 and 1.18v. Fun for i7 d0 is at 4.4ghz off you go lol....
sure you have seen xtreme, wanna see 100?

Haven't gone for more yet, lovely load temps :D

First I7 Overclock here :o Got a little beauty here, but just need a little advice.

Im running this on the Megahalems Air cooled with just 1 fan pushing air through, are those temps ok, or would a recheck of the AS5 be worth a shot.

Also is that QPI ok, as its pretty much the Auto setting ?

Thanks rjkoneill for letting me pinch your Biostar ;) cracking board. Have not tried higher yet until i get me head around everything :D

Think i have settled on my voltages for the 4000 speed after torturing the thing with OCCT and Prime. I have not tried any higher yet

Pretty much everything enabled in Bios, including Speedstep, C1, Hyperthreading, Turbo (I like things to throttle down when not in use)

CPU + 0.06 gives about 1.28 load
VTT 1.3 (Any higher is not stable @ 4000)
PLL Auto
Dram 1.64
NB 1.12
SB Auto
QPI 1.3 (Any lower is not stable)

If your looking in Loadsamoney, you might want to try them settings on your Biostar.

Cheers, will give em a try. :)

Here is some screenies of what I am trying to get fully stable atm..

4.4GHz 20 passes of LinX using max available RAM.

Test finished.

The only thing that I'm not to happy with is that I have to underclock my RAM to 1260MHz to get 4.4GHz.

I have Vcore @ 1.400v (in the BIOS), Vtt @ 1.255v, VDimm 1.500v, CPU PLL 1.300v, IOH core 1.140v, and QPI PLL @ 1.140v..

I will be doing further stability testing over the next few days, just to make sure that everything's OK, then once I know the CPU is stable at 4.4GHz I will try and get my RAM back onto the 8x multiplier, I am fairly confident that more Vtt should help give my RAM the extra nudge that's needed for it to be stable at 1680MHz..
