***The Official Core i7 Overclocking Thread***

Looking pretty good mate.

You might find once you start pushing 200Bclk and beyond that it becomes a lot harder to get things stable, at least this is how it's been with each 920 I've tried out.

191x21 was a walk in the park for me, but 200x20 proved to be a real PITA.

For benching 4.6 is doable, depending on your chip though.

My missus's one can only do 4.4GHz, but I've had my one right up to 4.7GHz, only CPUZ verified, I didn't get round to benching it yet.

If you decide to make some threads with other benchmarks, I will happily contribute once I get my rig up and running again, I'm still waiting for my PSU to be replaced, and my case is away having some work done to it as well.

Easy your chip seems to scale similarly to mine, I have had mine at 4.4 on air and the chip wasn't maxed so 4.5-4.6 looks within reach under water.

Just a few screenies of stuff i've done up to now.

Wish i had just bought the 975!!!! Had the cash just didnt think i would need it. Also while your about can i ask about condensation. atm iam getting a little on the block and mobo. what do you use to stop/protect. I have been looking for something to put round the CPU but cant seem to find anything atm i have use greese. Sounds bad but does the job. Dont get me wrong i dont run at temps like you but still get 9C @4.2 thats with this pig at 4.3V

if i was to take a guess it would be Corsair Dominator GT, DDR3 CMG6GX3M3A2000C8 - 6GB

Mine does the same can under clock it (1600mhz) and lower the timings from 8,8,8,24 to ?? 6,6,7,15

Might have done a silly thing (had a drink) just ordered a phase change cooler from the US ... £500+ O she will be happy lol

"Liquid Tape" all around the cpu socket and on the back of the mobo. Then i just use "Eraser Putty" all around the cpu socket, built up to the height of the cpu. An "Armorflex" doughnut around the evap head. Never had any problem with condenstion doing the above.

Kitfit what ram is that?

G.SKILL PERFECT STORM "LOW LATENCY" 6GB (3X2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C8 2000MHZ

I hope you havn't bought it from a seller called "Custombuiltcomputers" on a well known auction site ?

If you have, then you will have "done a silly thing"
The phase will be ok for benching, but i would not want to be running one of their units on a 24/7 basis (or even 12/7 for that matter).

Nope. It was from the bay but dif name. TBH i have had to kill the sale only due to the fact they wanted $450 (USD) just to ship the thing.
I have moved to plan B :)
It will all become clear very soon.
