***The Official Core i7 Overclocking Thread***

4025h.jpg

Hello,

Just started clocking my new rig.. and seem to be a bit stuck !!
First my bits are..

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5
i7 920 DO
Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3
Antec TruePower New 750W Modular PSU

Plus gfx and stuff...

Now everything set to auto it will do 170 x 21 and CPU-Z show cpu V at 1.35..
If I lower the cpu volt to 1.265 it will do 185 x 21 no probs
Thats with the ram running at 1800 @1.54v or lower ram speeds to 1440 at stock V

I can run 210 x 15 @ the same volts...

I have read through most of this thread and tried pretty much everything..

Can anyone here think of a setting I have missed.

Or is that it ?

Mind you 3.8 @ 1.265V ain't bad

Thx
:)

ive got my 920 running at 3.8gig prime stable at 1.2v. temps no higher than 65c with a megahalem

max ive tried for 4gig is 1.275v but i get bsods as soon as i try and do anything. is 1.275 too low for 4gig whereabouts should i be looking voltage wise?

All depends on the chip...

Post some screenies if you are bothering to prime.

Does BSOD generally mean the QPI is too low?

I tried 1.2V with 191 X 21 and 1.3V QPI.

I didn't expect it to be 100% stable:p

Thanks.. :)

The one thing I was missing was QPI volts..

Now running 200 x 21 though not on prime as like to do intel burn on max for a few loops as quicker to find the easiest unstable.. now of to prime...

cpu @ 1.265
QPI cpu @ 1.3

Temps did rise to a bit hot...

But only the standard TIm and fan on the not so good H-50 but I like it :)

Just got a BSOD at 1.23v on the VCORE and 1.31 on the QPI.

Going for 1.25. 1.3 was IBT stable, 20 runs on Max.

Just out of intrest have you changed the memory volts ?
Or lowered the memory speed ?

Good luck it's a right pain in the arse looking for a good overclock.... but sort of fun..

I think maybe I have at last hit on a good chip and mobo..

Only 8 hours or so will tell..

:)

managed to get 920 D0 @ 3.36 with QPI @ 5.6 and BCLK @ 160 stable for 24hours+ on prime95. Temp have settled @ 62C after.

CPUz-Z and bois show two voltages thou. 1.2 in cpu-z but I'm sure I've set it to more in the bois... plus vdoop is enabled... what could be going on there? and who should I believe?
