The Official 'Countdown to Wii' Thread!

I walked into a big chain store this morning and picked up 3 component cables off the shelf, one for my friend, one for a guy on another forum, as i was walking out, the guy behind me asked for one and was pointed in my direction "he took the last 3 mate".

I walked out chuckling at his misfortune.

Mine came at 9:20 this morning and it's all still sat in the box. I got everything I ordered except my extra nunchuck which is still on pre-order so I'll scour a few shops today and see if I can nab one.

I can't even plug this in to test it till after 9pm tonight once the kids are in bed, I just want to plug it in right now :p

We got up for 8am this morning, and got to our local games store by about 10 past. By the time we got there, there were probably about 20 people in the queue ahead of us, but I didn't count because I got bored and went to spend money in the dvd store across from the games place. There seemed to be a good supply of most things, and we had no problems picking up Wii Play and Zelda.

I just popped into one of the highstreet stores, they had about 5 or six of each Wii Play, numchuck and classic controllers, but no Wii's so I bought wiiplay and numchuck :) (nephew is coming round later and i'll need a second controller to thrash him).

wii play (turned up in store whilst waiting this morning), wii nunchuk, supermonkey ball (last one), red steel, all brought this morning and now waiting till next wednesday for delivery of Wii

Yeah, picked mine up from my local shop at 08:30. I got:

Wii
Zelda
Call of Duty 3
Red Steel
Wii Play + extra nunchuck thingy.

Now I'm stuck at work till 16:00 with my Wii sat in the boot of my car teasing me :(

The staff in my local store were telling everyone that you had to buy a memory card if you wanted to save games, I though the Wii had some internal memory anyway so I didn't bother getting one, I hope I didn't need one

No you don't need one, it has 512Mb internal.

I'm awaiting a second call from my retailer today, they are due their second batch today already, of which im the first in line - it'd better turn up soon! :p

You don't need one. There is 512Mb of internal memory, the SD cards are just an extra. I've no idea how much space saves will take up, but I can't see something like a standard memory card being in short supply over Christmas, so we're going with the philosophy of "lets just see how it goes", and if we need one, we'll get one.
The staff in our local store were being really good about the cards, and telling people they weren't required, they were just an extra.

After having my pre-order not coming through for me I went down to an out of town toy shop in Brighton/Hove at 5:30 in the morning for a 09:00 opening. It was cold and raining, but I was wearing a scalf and two coats and managed to position myself under an awning so I was out of the rain. I was the first person there! About ten minutes later someone else turned up. By 7 there were four of us and by 8 there were 12 of us standing in line and management were telling anyone else who tried to join the line to go home and that they'd run out. Got hold of:
Wii + wii sports
Zelda
Wiiplay
1GB wii branded SD card (it was in a package and for the price of the package was worth getting)

I'm now H-A-P-P-Y - only problem is that it's supposed to be a christmas/birthday present from my sister to me so I can't open it until christmas eve! Good to know I've got it now though. They didn't have any nunchucks or RGB SCART cables, but I think I'll give the extra nunchuck a miss unless I start really liking wiiboxing. The SCART cable I'm going to spend the next week tracking down.

Just got a call - their delivery today was wii-less. :(

I have to say, im so so unimpressed with the way they have mucked me around with this preorder - constantly getting told I'm due one and they not again - its tomorrow now *hopefully* apparently :/

Booked today off for this as well, having preordered at the start of Oct.

Today was meant to be a happy day *cries* :o

If I had been in that position I'd have turned to the guy and offered him one at what I'd just paid.
