The Official 'Countdown to Wii' Thread!

You would have given it to a stranger rather than two friends?

Well, I saw 2 today in town so its not like they are in short supply, also saw a bundle of Zelda and Wii Play as well.

mine up this morning and loving Sports, and Play. Not keen on Red Steel so far but it was a gamble, its the hardest to get the controls right so far. :(

Will try Zelda after a break on here :)

They did price mine up wrong though so I don't know if I should go back and hand over cash, I feel a tad guilty.

Whoop

the price for points online doesn't seem bad with the wii, £7 for 1000, 31 for 5000 :)

I've spent the past hour unpacking and setting mine up etc (the remote seems fairly easy to get the hang of).

Has any body managed to get one that didn't pre-order?
What time did you have to get up to get it?

Obviously you can't say where you got it :(

I got one last night from a supermarket.
Got there a little after 7pm and 8 of us queued till midnight, was actually quite fun, lots of banter and joking around.

Still waiting for mine to arrive.
Have you seen the prices some are going for at auction?
Almost £400 for just the console, although others are more like £300.

I'm very tempted to sell mine and wait till after the new year.....

have you seen the prices some people were trying to sell them in the MM for?;)

I think if my dad's reaction to Tennis is anything to go by the Wii may be a success with non gamers
"that looks fun, I might have a go" :D

I put mine up on ebay last night then took it down again, I'd rather have the console than a little extra cash and then have to find another console :p

I can't wait till Christmas Day and the whole family are jumping round the living room like idiots :p

I can't see the MM yet :(
I'm getting there slowly, until then I'll have to use that worryingly bad auction place and try to avoid the scammers.

I can't wait to get my Wii setup and get some crazy looks and comments from my parents. Although my dad may be interested if the golf game is any good. We just need a fry pan game or ironing for all the mothers :p

I would, even if you get £300 with the profits that practiclly nets you a free Wii after christmas, get it on there with a good photo and your name written on a peice of paper next to it, <chants> do it.......do it.......do it.....do it.......do it............do it.........

Lame. Sat here with a copy of Zelda that came nice and early this morning, but no sign of the console. They tease me!

EDIT: Haha, perfect timing. I posted this, looked out the window, and saw a ParcelForce van just outside. Hurrah, my Wii is here! Updating itself now. :)

Got to Asda at 6:15am this morning and there were 14 people in the Queue. Only 20 were available but I got mine so I don't care! :p

Beer and hopefully no controller imbeded in TV action straight after work! :D

My story for this thread...

At a store in London this morning at 7.30 to pick up a pre-ordered few accessories but not a console or Zelda, on a lorry right now where clearly the driver decided to stop off for lunch :-/

Anyway whilst picking up the accessories the chap serving me grabs a Wii Console as well. For just just small moment I thought about having this second one but realised no can't do that to someone. He would have sold it too me though even though it was pre-orders only.

Got everthing bar the RGB or Component.

I think the golf in Wii Sports isn't going to be a long-term thing for serious golfers once the novelty wears off. However, hopefully the popularity of Wii Sports amongst non-gamers seen so far will spur EA to release a Wii version of Tiger Woods that is more in-depth and with longer lasting appeal than Wii Sports offers.

In fact, thinking about, EA are sitting on a goldmine with all their sports licenses that they should exploit on the Wii.

Mine.... er, I mean my 9 year-old son's ;) is already hidden away in a cupboard where it's gotta stay for another 17 days :(

Can anyone tell me the situation is with getting these online if you don't have wireless?

A mate was telling me that they are USB only and therefore I would need a Ethernet to USB adaptor...anyone got any details on this?

Cheers

Exactly that! :D

Gonna have to create some more Miis in advance :D
CocoPops, I must have walked right past you last night... I turned up at ***the same supermarket as you*** at about 9pm (I live over the road from it) and realised too many people were already there, so I went to ***another supermarket*** and got position #18 of 30 :)

I'm impressed you came all the way to Swindon from Bicester - weren't there any places nearer you that had any, or do you just like Swindon that much?

edit: Sorry, Dons, I forgot they are a competitor.

OH. MY. LORD.

After me cancelling the Wii pre-order a fortnight ago, it's turned up! It's sitting next to me begging to be opened. I don't know what to do. Whether to open it up and give it a whirl, send it back or flog it on auction site.
