The Official 'Countdown to Wii' Thread!

They had plenty of games in stock by the look of it, loads of wii play, they had the classic controller too. Red Steel, Monkey Ball and Zelda were all there

This was in a small city of London branch of the most famous games retailer.

What do people think about software availbility on the run up to xmas - I was going to ask for red steel/monkey ball etc for xmas, but I don't want there to be shortages, what do the store shelves look like for games stock so far?
Games look fine. Just no accessories.

There is no reason for them to have problems with games, apart from Wii Play as that comes with a Wiimote. The rest of the games are just need burning, printing and packaging.

mines arrived :D

But i'm stuck at work :(

Have Zelda, classic controller and another nunchuck, just need to pick up wii play tomorrow.........

I'm sure the ladies can fashion some kind of rampant rabbit with the Wiimote and numchuk and as we all know the Wiimotes still as the vibration function. :D

The remote is heavier than you expect, considering the size. With that and the looseness of the wrist strap, it's a bit more understandable why there've been breakages with it. But still, I won't be chucking it like a loon, so I'll be ok.

Taking it's own sweet time to finish updating though. Anyone else having this problem? Our internet speeds are fine, so I reckon it's probably just because there's so many people updating too.

And my second remote now won't be sent until the 22nd apparently :/. If I can, I think I'll cancel that bit and but one in a shop, or get Wii Play.

Looseness of the wrist strap? I have tiny wrists, and I can get it to tighten up enough to almost cut off my circulation!

A few people have said now that they are having problems with the updates, you're probably right that it's due to a lot of people trying to do it at once. We had no problems at 8.30am, but I guess a lot of couriers would turn up after 9, so there are probably loads being connected.

well i've just been into the store where i preordered mine.

i've got Zelda and the classic controller, my rgb scart cable and the Wii itself have not however turned up :(

apparently they're stuck in a truck in Germany

the only things that the store have in stock are Zelda, the WiiPlay games+Wiimote and the classic controller.

Picked mine up at lunchtime (had put down a £20 preorder ages ago). All went very smoothly and I got the Wii, Wiplay + extra numchuck and Zelda.

The only thing I didn't get which I knew wouldn't be in stock was a component lead, but to be honest, from the distance I stand from my plasma, it doesn't look too bad.

The annoying thing is I only had time to set it up and update the firmware before I had to go back in to work :(. This afternoon is really dragging on now :p

Still awaiting on Parcelforce and seeing as the van left the depot at 5:30 this morning I can't see them working for much longer today. Expecting the usual 'Oh we tried to deliver but no one was in excuse'.

I’m in the same position as well, left the depot at 6.00 and it still hasn’t arrived yet. :(

And now the parcel force page isn’t working.

I know I shouldn't be moaning just yet but my experiences with Parcelforce have never been good especially for the Romford Depot that services this area.

Has anyone else got a sore arm yet? :p
It didn't take me long. I've just tried the Wii sports games, I suck at all of them, although bowling is ok, I just need a few more strikes.

The update took about 10 minutes for me, an hour ago. It was a sloooooow ten minutes though
I'm going to me humming that darn Nintendo shop tune for the rest of the day, just becuase it's a shop doesn't mean they have to play the cheesey music.

i want to play a wii now but only have like £30 in my bank :(

When will you be able to walk into a shop and get them any time?
Might trade in my guitar or 360

You would have given it to a stranger rather than two friends?
Fair enough. I assumed they would be put on ebay in the hope of making a profit.

In that case I'd have said to the guy "Sorry, I'd offer you one of these but they are for a couple of friends of mine. Good luck in finding one though" rather than 'chuckling at his misfortune'

Goddamnit.

3 of us guys, seasoned gamers with years of console experience between us, losing to a girl, who plays the Sims at best, on Wii Sports bowling. And losing quite badly too. :(

I know what you mean I wasn’t thrilled that parcel force was delivering it as well.
