Since this RAM is very popular i thaught i would start this Thread.

Use this thread to talk about your ballistix RAM on:

1)Overclocking
2)Performance
3)Different models i.e Tracer
4)Anything else related to this amazing piece of kit.

My ballistix settings are as follows:

2x1gb Ballistix 6400
2.40 Volts
950Mhz
4-4-4-15 2T
Stable :D

2.4v?

The Ballistix should do ~1000mhz 4-4-4-12 at stock voltage (2.2v). Maybe 2.3v if you're unlucky. All four pairs I had did the big 1ghz at stock.

Awesome memory when it's working.

I have 2gb of 5300 and it does 1000mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v.

Have it at 800mhz 4-4-4-10 usually at 1.8v and this worked with 4gb of it as well.

are the 667, 800, 1000 modules based on the same chips?

meaning it'd make more sense to buy the PC2-5300 version?

The PC5300 and PC6400 are believed to be the exact same stuff. The PC8500 does appear to be slightly better as it's reaching higher clocks from what I've seen.

I think most of us here opted for the PC5300 and have been pleased as punch with it.

Micron own Crucial. Crucial Ballistix always use their chips as they're Microns flagship range.

I sold an unopened RMA replacement PC5300 kit (received direct from Crucial) 3 or 4 weeks ago to another member of these boards and he found them to be just as good as his own older set.

2 x 2GB (2 x 1GB (PC5300)) @ 756MHz 4-4-4-12 - 2.2v

2 x 2GB (2 x 1GB (PC6400)) @ 756MHz 4-4-4-12 - 2.2v

Still need to experiement with the PC5300, I think the timings should tighten to 3-3-3-8. :)
