So I noticed other mid table clubs like Man Utd have their own club threads and thought it was time for the "Pride of South London" to have an official club thread as well.
Firstly, please read the below rules, they are very important:

1. These threads are for: tactical/player discussion inbetween weekend matchday threads, injury news, contract renewals, manager press conferences, and general minor news about your club that may not warrant its own thread. Anything that's not regarded as a minor news story must go in it's own thread.

2. No Spoilers! Please keep any discussion about weekend fixtures to the relevant matchday threads, at least until MOTD has been shown.

3. All transfer talk should be discussed in the dedicated transfers threads. Small rumours, signing of youth players etc outside the transfer window when the transfer threads aren't open are fine.

4. As per forum rules, keep it civil, supporters of any team are welcome to post in all club threads. If you have a problem with a post, RTM it. Trolling or accusations of trolling will not be tolerated.

While all the rules must be listened to, take particular care of the rule regarding spoilers. Any mention of the result or performance, even hinting at it, prior to MOTD will result in a suspension.

Lots of things to look at right now.

1. New Manager - should we keep Roy until the end of the season?
2. New Signings - what do we need, what can we get?

1. New Manager

Personally I think that we need to keep Roy until the end of the season. I think he will do enough to keep us somewhere midtable. I don't think we made the correct decision in keeping him in the summer but we are where we are. Steve Cooper is a decent shout I think but personally I would love to see us try and sign Graham Potter.

2. New Signings

I think it is locked in that we will lose both Olise and Guehi in the summer. Both of them have been playing well and I think any of the top 6 clubs would be delighted to have them. I think we could do well in recruiting replacements now ahead of the summer. It would be great to sign a striker who can score goals but I think we are cursed on that score.

OK, this is a bit of a wild card. Mourinho has just been sacked by Roma. His stock is certainly lower than it used to be.

He did talk about managing Palace in the past. Could we see him at Selhurst Park as a complete left field appointment? Would he actually be able to do a good job with a smaller budget?

The latest name we seem to be linked with is Carrick and that just doesn't excite me at all.

Bayern want Glasner.

He's done very well, I wonder if this will unsettle things...

Bayern Munich have failed in an approach for Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner as Thomas Tuchel’s successor.

Bayern proposed €18million (£15.5m) in compensation for the 49-year-old but the offer was rejected by Palace, who told the German club they wanted closer to €100m (£86m).

Honestly, I get the impression that Glasner doesn't want a job like Bayern. Before we appointed him I saw him linked with several "big" clubs. When Palace signed him interviews suggested that what appealed to him was the ability to build something rather than win trophies. There was quite a bit of friction at Frankfurt for him and that came down to him not being given the freedom and backing to run things the way he wanted.

I'm delighted to see him do well so far but it is too early for me to call him a good appointment. Pardew had an amazing spell when he first signed.

I think if he does well he will potentially move on but I don't think he will go to a big name club. The sort of thing that I could see him interested in would be something like the Newcastle job, but only if he was given a lot of autonomy.

He played for the French U18s and U21s. That is it. He is eligible to play for France, England, Nigeria and Algeria.

He was born in England and has lived all his life in England. One parent is Nigerian and one is French-Algerian. I get the impression he doesn't really feel any connection with playing for England though. I know that Southgate spoke to him a while back.

Edit : According to the Mail they spoke in 2022

Interestingly the Athletic are reporting that Textor has also made an offer to buy the other 55% of Palace. I've also just read that Harris and Blitzer had made an offer to Textor but only at the same price he paid (+ his latter investment) for his shares. It's starting to get a bit messy for Palace but these are the dangers when you have multiple owners that aren't singing off the same hymn sheet.

Textor's not somebody I'd want owning my club. A friend of mine is a big Lyon supporter and Lyon fans hate him, with his ownership proving to be disastrous. He's already sold off numerous assets including Lyon's basketball stadium and their women's team and Lyon fans fear that he's planning to sell off both the training ground and stadium in the future. Around 12-18 months ago I was watching a Bloomberg event where one of the people financing Textor spoke about how he targets clubs to invest in and the big factor wasn't how they could grow the club, compete and generate more revenue that way but looking at which clubs were producing the most talent that could be sold for a profit. And to top things off details of some of Textor's borrowings have recently been revealed showing he's borrowing money at as much as 17% interest.
