***The Official E2140/E2160 Overclocking Thread***

Hi Cob

Is there any benefit in doing this?

If u are overclocking and the pc adjusts the voltage/ speeds that u are running could make system unstable. Its just one of those things that universally accepted that it would be best left turned off while overclocking. If its stable with *your* overclock which you already determined (with the settings off), thats a different matter altogether.

I just slipped that tip in as its just one of those basic rudimentary tips that can't hurt to turn off especially while testing a new CPU.

-iceblade^ : According to your screenie you are running at 2Ghz not 3Ghz!

As mentioned hes got Speedstep and C1E enabled and he already stoped orthos so it would change the multi down to 6
takes me 18.7 to do super pi @3.2ghz so doubt that 2ghz would do it in 20

Doesn't seem to be what Cob is saying below? Which is why a possed the question?

I've always turned mine off and left them that way tbh :)

Disable them when overclocking, but you can turn them back on when you've finished.

I have Speedstep and C1E enabled on my E2140 @3.45ghz without any isues.

I'm building a 956P DS3 with a E2140 under an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro this week so I'll be posting back what it can do later this week :)

TBH I'll be happy with 3ghz anything else will be a bonus

as far as i can tell, the OC seems stable... no crashes, no random BSODs, nothing suspicious... but then i have't used the PC all that much today... i think i'll just leave them on, seeing as i don't really want to tweak the settings any more if it's not necessary... 'sides, call me conservative, but i somehow don't like the idea of the PC running at full pelt constantly...

good luck tweakinfreak... i have the ACF7, and it does wonders, so you ought to enjoy it as well ^^

Hi guys

Built a cheap system with a E2140 @ 3.0ghz and an Artic Freezer Pro cooler + AS5 paste

Idle it's 39 and under load it's 58/9 is that too warm do we think?

That's with the case cover off atm, I think I may have used a wee bit too much AS5??

Whats your thoughts?

Well there only there to save electricity....so unless your a fan of higher electricity bills then you may aswell switch them back on.

What volts are you running that at ?

that seems high... my '60 idles at arouind 27/30 and capped off in Orthos at 56, usually around 55... @ 1.425V and FSB 333, everything else Auto now... same cooler as you as well

i have limited experience OCing, though, so be warned

Yeah I thought is seemed a bit on the high side tbh, I some other paste here I may try a bit of that instead of the AS5 as the first time I went to use it what looked like oil came out where it had seperated over time?

I just took it off and applied AS5 again and I still have the same temp :(
