I got a few games in beta and to be honest I will wait for the full release of this as I don't want to get burn out with it, like with a few games I got at moment which are early access.

It all depends on how you approach the alpha/early access stages. If you play it as a game you end up burned out as the feature set is very limited. If you approach it with a mindset of checking for bugs and ways to improve the experience it helps.

I played alpha 2.0 and 3.0 as a game and while it was fun for a short while the very limited scope left me bored in no time. I plan to approach it with a different mindset for alpha 4. At least most of the core features are enabled.

This is beginning to look like something I could get involved with. What's the best deal that will get me access now and a copy of the game? Or is beta access a better bet in a few months time?mand am I right in saying a copy of the game means I can play 'forever' without having to pay again unless I want to? No monthly/extra charges other than cosmetics/optional upgrades/ships?
We're currently in the Alpha phase, but that is closed. The next phase (premium Beta) starts on or around the 30th May, and is likely to be the same as this current Alpha build, but with bugfixes and possibly more systems. Premium beta currently costs £100, and with that you also get the full retail product as well as any expansion packs that are released in future (selling for £35). If you do buy the premium beta you can immediately download the old Alpha 1.1 client which includes single player scenarios that will let you practice your flying skills before the beta proper starts.

Standard beta starts when premium beta finishes -- no date yet confirmed -- and costs £50. That doesn't include the expansion packs.

There will be no monthly fees, so whichever package you go for, you can play the game for as long as you like.

What He said ^^ :)

I'm still on the £20 early bird tier for this on Kickstarter... I think I am more then happy to wait till release. The game looks amazing, so amazing that I think having the patience to wait for the finished version will pay off.

It was actually my first ever Kickstarter... more then happy with the investment so far! :)

Just don't burn out all in one go early on heh, this game has a long way to go yet but I'm quite impressed with what they have so far.

Please don't do that :p

Which promptly led to everyone buying a Lakon and a huge cargo load, and either crashing while trying to undock or being pirated by everyone in sight. Human nature is a wonderful thing.

You're probably supposed to hire an escort for something like that. Or take very quiet, well policed routes.

I'm quite impressed how close to the concept art they've got so far with the ingame assets and just how much attention to detail has gone into it.

The game looks and feels amazing, just need them to sort out the net code more which im sure they are working on as when PB arrives in 6 days there will be a lot more players around and things could get messy.

I recently started paying more attention to this, after backing it for £50 back in the Kickstarter phase and promptly forgetting about it. :o Looking pretty enough, but I'm worrying just how terrible my combat skills are these days. Getting 'ganked' on every trade run is going to get old real fast. :D

Scot Manley's video of the Eagle (MK.2?) did make me a little tingly. I can't wait to see the reimagined Imperial Courier too.

I did get my commander name reserved though, so I'm happy.
