*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

right now perhaps....

I am currently in top 25% at 69 scans but with over a week and a half and 2 weekends to go I expect it to go up a lot. also with such relatively low numbers and it being fairly safe I am kind of expecting a lot of whales to cash in near the end and could swing the numbers. it actually doesn't happen that often but it could on this one if the numbers are relatively low.
Lol I thought I was doing OK by forcing myself to do 22.

I also wonder if a few dedicated/driven and lets be honest about some ED Cmdrs the neuro divergants who could easily grind stupid numbers of scans, saying 10,000 have already contributed which is a pretty decent number. So hopefully not too many will drive the bands too high.

It is the beauty of the steamdeck. I am visiting my folks and whilst they watch new tricks, granchester and heart beat (trying not to die inside ;) ) I can half watch that and half farm samples in elite

wrapped up with 101 samples.

I'm not going to bother with this CG.

Well of course I went and did the CG didn't I? On both my accounts. I hope this sort of gameplay is not the sign of things to come with Odyssey based CG's though, i.e. just mindlessly scanning things on a loop, because let's be honest, it was very very thin gameplay. And I only did 70 odd. The environment they created, both in the system and on the planets was pretty cool though. Hopefully they will add some more stuff to do with it.

When I did it I eventually found a nice three hop loop in one spot and got it down to about 40 seconds per full sample, with probably a 20 second there and back dash to the SRV to replenish energy cells when they ran out. Before that I was jumping about all over the place, bouncing off and falling off the trees, probably was a minute and a half for a full scan at least, an absolutely awful experience. So the guy at the top with like 5700 scans to his name, assuming he was doing say a generous 30 second loop from the start, that is like 47 hours of continuous scanning, something like 5 hours solid a day since it started. I mean what the hell?

The annoying part for me is I already have a G5 suit unmodded. However I cannot mod it as my mats are maxed at 1000/1000 and to downtrade to get the mats required i need to sell some of them. But the bartenders are bugged for me because if for example i try to sell Graphene it gives me the monetary value and removes the qty from my totals but it at the same time gives me back Tungsten carbide. This happens no matter what i sell it gives me an equivalent grade of a different material. If i trade mats it takes my traded mat and gives me a random mat back in return but not the mat i requested. My total mats quantity stays at 1000/1000.
All the above makes it totally impossible for me to mod more suits.
I made a bug report and see some other people have similar issues but not sure how many people are affected or have even tried modding their suits lately.

Something I find really annoying with the Virpil Alphas is the hats not being gated. So many times due to how I move my hand about I find I'm not getting a response because I'm pushing it to one of the 8 way directions instead.
I don't recall having this issue with the prime and I wonder if the shape of the hat was the factor.

Don't do what I did and log in to Open by mistake. Luckily for me I had just started the trip to the planet so didn't have any scans at that point, and someone immediately interdicted me in a Federal Corvette. So I just gave in and sat there at zero throttle in my Asp with naff all shields waiting for him to do me. But he just rammed me down to 10% shields and either took pity on me, since I was just sat there, or was just having a laugh and wasn't actually going to kill me anyway, so he eventually left. But if he hadn't interdicted me then, then I would very likely have gone down to the planet in Open none the wiser about it, probably to be blown away for real on the way back with all the scans.

Turns out it is wasn't me, there is an issue with one of my HATs where the directional input simply wasn't registering. Despite being out of warranty (got the right one 2nd hand) VPC are sending me a replacement switch FOC.
Great service, there were responding within minutes.

Was about to get back in but I'll wait for either the new part which will likely arrive a long time before the new grips.

Not really sure how I feel about the Caspian but I'm starting to lean towards a dislike of it lol, purely on looks, that said I feel the same about the Mandalay but I can happily ignore that once in the cockpit which I do like! Anyway, I need to log in and run some more scans sadly...
