*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Did some colonisation deliveries on a planet last night, every trip was interrupted by pirates. But not on the way to the planet when I was fully loaded, on the way back to the carrier when I was empty! I am all for making the game challenging but it just started to get tedious as it was fight the interdiction and end up further away from the carrier than when I left the planet or just submit and wait for drive to cooldown while whatever it was that stopped me tickled my bum

I remember it being like that in the game's early days and people getting hacked off with it. So they changed it to be a bit smarter.

I thought they did, at least there always used to be a test server...
There has been a mixed bag over the years, there have been open test servers, there have been closed test servers which were only available to LEP holders and such, these days the only testing that gets done other than their own internal is by members of the partner program for about a week before the updates go live and it causes issues like we have seen this week lol.

there was... the last time they used it was for Oddy release. now they reserve that for influencers. those of us who paid for beta access have to go suck an egg unfortunately.

(in truth I don't mind personally... I am done beta testing elite ... but 1) it's the principle of it and not getting what I paid for and 2). a handful of influencers does a p.. s poor job of beta testing compared to a few 1000 hard core players.

"Influencers" are digital cancer.

They did T11,T8 CE and in ops PMK2 and Kestrels so far

Yea and it highlights how much of a nerd the Kestrel needs.

I bought a Nomad on my alt explorer acc and also bought a Caspian in game and did a basic setup. To register for the CG I flew out and did a single scan en-route so I at least qualified for the paintjobs. I then went back to my general account and did the same in my Mandalay. Unfortunately I didn't get time to go back and get any more scans so both accounts should have got the paintjobs and minimum reward.

I was reasonably impressed with the Nomad and the Caspian. The Nomad will obviously make finding samples easier but I found that you can't really spot anything if flying too fast. It will take a bit of practise to optimise using it. The Caspian flies ridiculously well for such a large ship. I haven't tried the neutron jumping yet and I haven't fitted the special armour so I couldn't try the fast descents either.

It will take some more outfitting and testing but it looks like my alt will be retiring his Asp Scout explorer.

got to admit the nomad is the 1st vehicle I have been tempted to open my wallet for and not wait for it to come for credits . Don't get me wrong. I *won't* as I have already paid enough to FD and am a bit put out that the ships are not included with my lifetime pass ..... but I am tempted ;)
