Chev, go in something small and fast with a mwd fitted. I tend to travel in an interceptor, it just goes to warp too quickly to be locked, and if you hit a gate bubble you can usually get back through the gate before you get hit.

If you're just sightseeing you might as well max your low slots out on stabs too just to be sure.

If you want to avoid trouble, stick your eyes on the map, see a blob and i'm sure you know not to fly into it.

Also, try and avoid chokepoints.

KnightStalker, if you've not got large t2 projectiles then don't bother with a Macharial, it'd be a waste. I owned mine for 20 minutes before I sold it.

Tempest Fleet Issue ***!!!11111one
Use it for Ratting. :P

Not tried a Mach, was going to buy one, but the Tempest Fleet Issue Caught my eye.

My Raven Navy BPC is Still doing nought, Can I be Botthered with building it, might do tonight and see how fast the fire rate of Cruise Launcher II's is.

isnt it an AC boat compared to the fleet tempest being a 1400 monster?

I use my Tempest Fleet Issue as an AC Boat, Dual 650mm II are fitted, with a dual repper tank that can be sustained.

I think i would use a Mach with a single repper tank and a Afterburner fitted. It is the fastest Battleship in the game IIRC.

w00t finally bought my first ishtar that I am happy to pvp with now that I have hull upgrades 5, all cap skills 5, all navigation 4/5, 4 races x t2 heavy drones and drones interfacing 5 :P and my setup fits with 0 cpu free :P

hmm i dont have t2, but the named stuff is just as good as t2, takes less cpu and pg than the t2...yes t2 is cheaper, but when ive got 1.8b it doesnt matter, i just want something different.

oh and i know with that money i could get a navy raven or a rattlesnake, or any other BS that costs the earth, but the machariel appeals to me more than the others, and if i lose it (which i dont plan on) it aint that much of a loss.

you want the T2 ammo and the lvl 5 skill plus the spec, you can get in it, but to pvp? stick with killing the haulers that a re slow at aligning

edit, also - faction fittings, your already loosing so much isk, you want it to have a higher chance for that bit more - id suggest lg snakes and a core-x 100mn ab (or mwd) and some nice corprum adaptaive nanos

kinda like the inty-phoon

ok but T2 training is going to take a while, and i imagine that a named setup while im training for the T2 would just be as good, i mean im going to be doing light PVP work, running some lvl 4's with my friends and some complexes at this moment in time, PVP will come, but with corp half inactive, aint the man power for some serious ganking.

Also i dont see many of these ships running around in empire space, i ventured into 0.0 space in my inty, and wow theres a few camping gates, i guess becasue they are fast and deal some damage pretty quickly.

You'll find them in low sec a lot, along with the Vindicator and Rattlesnake if the pirate is extra rich. Best named could surfice if you wanna work into the ship and get a feel for it - but like I said make sure you kit it out to the max you can afford or there might be problems tanking sentries :p

t2 training wont take that long if your just aiming for large projectile spec or large autocannon spec. just get the small + med to 4 and train large.

T2 guns + t2 ammo is crazily worth it compared to t1 guns and t1 ammo, even officer guns and officer ammo, in fleet fights you know who's got t2 gunds fitted cos they're usually the ones still on the battlefield.

t2 gun needs the specialization skill (obviously) which has a pre-req of the large gun skill at level 5.

Large projectile turret 5 gives you 5% extra damage over level 4.

The spec skill gives you 2% better damage per level.

So train the spec skill to level 4 absolute minimum and you've got an instant 13% damage bonus over your current level.

That's worth it ;)

Also Tremor (T2 ammo) Large means you can dish out 1400 arty death at 200+km :D

However the small, medium and large proj spec skills are dependant I think, can't access EVE-O at work to check. Which means to train Large arty spec you need medium arty spec lvl4 (meaning you'll need medium proj lvl5) and to train that you'll need small arty spec lvl 4 and small proj lvl5. But I could be wrong, but I remember this as a forum gripe as the same doesn't apply to missile spec skills i believe.
Download EVEMON it rocks and will give you all the training times and dependancy pathways for skills.
