nd to be honest would be pretty disrespectful to Volk
You seen how the UFC works? :D

Im down for Lopes Evloev 2.
Again my main concern is you've take a 36 year old, who's lost his last 2 fights by heavy knockout and propelling him back to the top young hungry fighters, theres not many out there that handle that.

'Propelling him back to the top' of a division he's only lost one fight in is really stretching the language used I think, he hasn't fallen down the pecking order to need to be 'propelled' anywhere - he's still in the mix at the top of the division on merit.

I edited my last post but i'll copy it here:

lets put a bit of context to his LW losses too - he moved to LW because he'd pretty much cleared out FW at the time, was PFP #1 and had already defended against Max multiple times. Makhachev was basically the only fight available to him and he took it to a close decision. He then went back to FW and beat the interim FW champion, before being asked to take on Makhachev again on 10 days notice before then continuing with the planned Topuria fight. Simplifying the situation to 'yeah but he lost 2 fights in a row' is really too simplistic to give a fair reflection of his standing in the division and the company as a whole.

If anyone is going to handle life at the top of the division against some hungry new competition, it's probably the guy that's only lost one fight at featherweight and a couple of times a weight division up against one of the most dominant champions currently in the UFC.

You're a casual. :D

Volk has lapped the featherweight division several times and Lopez has been fast tracked with Dana While privilege. To write Volk off as a has-been, just because he lost only to Islam and Ilia, is a bad take.

He may lose to Lopez, but if he doesnt will still be a worthy champ.

There's no one more deserving of that bout than Volk, I can't see an argument against it. 314 shaping up to be a good looking card.

You're a casual. :D
I'm a casual looking at longevity and father time? Thanks lad <3

I didnt write volk off as a has been, again I stated it might have been best for a tune up and get back in the win column first
But dont let my words affect your casual reading :D

Best main and co main in a PPV in ages. Rest of the card I can’t get excited about, will be forced to go to the boozer to watch it on a sunny bank holiday weekend afternoon. Awful :)

Thought the co main had all the entertainment value, should have a been a 5 rounder. As for the main, bit disappointing. Don't feel Alex did enough to win it, could probably say Ank controlled the pace and was more of the aggressor I think you could also say he was never really in much danger. I think Alex was too worried about a takedown to really get going and Ankelev was worried he was going to get KTFO'd.
I don't like it but I think in a title fight you have to be taking that belt from the champ, not pushing him up against the cage for 25 minutes. That being said, the champ should have enough about him but when his leg kicking and left hook are nullified in this way then he needs to find another route to victory.

I think Pereira never really got started in that fight. I can't think of a single moment where he went for broke and really unloaded on Ankalaev, in fact he barely seemed to hurt him much other than a few jabs that snapped his head back.

In the end I think Ankalaev just worked harder to win that fight than Pereira did, he was laser focused, and maybe next time Pereira should spend more time training for the most dangerous fights of his career and less time traveling and doing promotional events.

This guy ITP MMA Live does really good and common sense analysis (no BS or clickbait) of various MMA topics... I really agree with him on Pereira here and it fits with my thoughts too. Pereira was not his usual focused self, too many distractions in the lead up to the fight.

Yeah decent watch. I like Rousey's quote in there. Easy for us to criticise but must be difficult not to get caught up in all the hype.
