***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

well my new one is doing the business, had no issues so far and on the latest 404 build, had to flash myself as it came on 401 and was not picking up the update, so as it was fresh i unlocked and stuck 404 on. Very happy and not temped one bit by the S3 or the HTC OneX as nice as they are.

think i may have to return mine, has lost signal about 7 times today with needing to flick airplane on and off.

i worry if i report a fault they wont find it

Can anyone recommend a cheap case that will just prevent me from scratching the screen / back / sides. Don't want a massively thick one as the phone is big enough :)

Hi Folks,

I find the Nexus lack of a few things, one of them is customized ringtone.

Say I have 2 different MP3 songs, how do I set it up so that Peter is assigned to song1, Dary is assigned to song2?

Any experience like this?

Thanks!

not got my phone to hand mate, but think that can be done by editing the contact. if i'm wrong then you can use 'lightflow' which is great anyway as you can use it to set different colours for different alerts.... like flash green for email, blue for facebook, red for missed call and so on...

EDIT:

You can assign different ringtones to different contacts, and you can assign custom non-system ringtones as well:

- Open Astro or another file explorer
- Place ringtone into /sdcard/Media/ringtones
- Open People
- Open contact
- Set ringtone (the ringtone should appear in the selection of choices)

Samsung are coming to my office to load a binary to check if this signal issue is a hardware or software problem. They are taking it very seriously, i will let you know what they say, if it is a hardware/modem issue, then it will be classed as a defect, so you can get a new one. If it is software for some reason, then im going to ask they load 4.0.2 onto my phone.

Who did you complain to to make Samsung react?

Mine has been dropping signal a lot less this last week, maybe once or twice every other day now.

I submitted a bug through google, then i got contacted by both google and samsung. Samsung are coming out, they say it could be either a modem, SIM, or operator issue. Though as i understand it, people with new SIMs are having issues too, plus, my issues didnt start until after the update. I think they want to see if they push less power to the modem, will it fail, or something to that effect. Either i will need a new SIM or new phone, either way, i will have a working phone within the next week.
