Gmail is terrible for me too, even on N!! Ended up installing K-9 Mail instead

Flashed Android N to my N6P via the OTA Program. Used it for a day. Really liking some of the new features and enhancements, particularly quick reply from notification and the multitasking improvements. However, it's a bit slow and buggy - so back on MM. Will get a lot better I'm sure in the next few months. YMMV, but these days I need something fast and stable and N isn't there yet for me - but to be expected from a preview.

Anyone had issues with the head phone jack ? Mine had a fault I can't seem to fit the jack in to make a connection. I think something has dropped position wise inside

Sure am. The Google launcher has 2 main problems.
1: Icons are way too big
2: Cannot get rid of the stupid search bar on home pages.
