*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Was waiting for this as my first tablet, specs didn't disappoint. Ordered the 16gb version!

This! looking forward to receiving mine too (though do feel sligtly sorry for anyone who's recently shelled out on a galaxy tab 7.7 @ retail price...

For those who say they're going to use the ipad and the nexus...for what?

Planning to use Nexus on the move/ipad at home? Or different functions completely?

In our home the main use for the ipad is sky apps with live tv on the nice screen. I might just get rid of it but that wouldn't be be too popular. :p

I use my I/O Tab for posting here.

Thankfully I only paid £350, and I completely feel the SAMOLED is worth it.

The screen on this will be very similar to that of the 7.0 Plus, which was nice, but didn't have the true blacks I have becommed accustomed to.

It's the size too though, I'm not too worried about portability and 10" is nice.

Being stuck on packed tubes and the such were I usually find my smartphone a little on the small side I could see a 7" being the perfect size, using the 10" tab without sitting comfortable I think its a bit annoying, it tends to get a bit heavy and not so comfy in 1 hand.

If I hadn't just last week got a Galaxy Tab 8.9, I'd definitely go for one of these. Still somewhat tempted, but I like the size of the 8.9, 7" just seems a little too small.

Rather miffed that it'll have Jelly Bean and my Tab doesn't even have ICS yet though. Android is let down by the OEMs all too often now.

No tbh.

I'm an android fan through and through and had I not got an ipad a few months ago I would have considered this, as it is it would be a pretty big step down for what I use it for. It looks like a great device though.

Its a fairly big step down in price from an iPad too though...

This tablet is as powerful as any other tablet or phone out there with its quad core tegra 3 chip. It has the latest version of Android and can do everything every other Android tablet can do... it comes with some free content and its £159.

For £159 you can get a blackberry pay and go that barely works as a phone let alone has any other functions.

This is the BARGAIN of the century at the price of the century.

This is a real threat to the iPad as it is just as good capability wise and a fifth of the price.

It is so cheap we should all buy one just to have a nexus tablet and all the cool updates we will get, let alone as a media device.

I don't think this is a threat to the iPad.

I think its a threat to anyone who makes an Android tablet and thinks they can price it like an iPad.

^ It's all about hooking you into the Google play store and services. Swapping hardware is easy, swapping ecosystems is **** hard when you've got a dump load of apps, games, films, books and accessories like the Q/ATV etc.

If I wanted to upgrade my Nexus 7 to bigger tablet would I choose the iPad (with no software, less viewable content and accessories that won't connect) or that nice 11" Samsung Galaxy (and keep all my apps, games, books and other ecosystem specific stuff?)

That's a no brainier right?
