**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Cancelled my Pixel 2 order.

Got the Pixel XL last night and I'm saving about £100 and the benefits of the Pixel 2 don't outweigh the cost to upgrade and the sacrifice.

Pixel XL:
Bigger Screen
Bigger Battery
Bigger Storage (128gb variant)

Pixel 2:
Lower-res screen and size
Smaller battery
Better camera

I'm happy with the camera on the Pixel XL and can live without water/dust resistance.

Figure I can run this for another year or so and then see what happens with the next round of Google phones.

^ I am tempted to keep the XL google are sending me. I'm thinking if I sell it for £400, is the xl2 worth another £400? Even with the free home mini, I don't think so.
Then again, I keep looking at the V30 and also wondering what oneplus are going to bring to the table. Really want a new phone around the £500 mark which ticks all the boxes.

Really don't think this phone is worth £800. It's just got too many annoyances. Maybe when I see it in the flesh I'll change my mind. Perhaps I'll keep my pre-order, as I can always send it back after using it for a day or two.

I was very keen on getting the new Pixel 2, but after receiving the XL I just think it's the wrong decision to part ways with it as the benefits don't outweigh the cons for me.

This phone will run strong for another year easily with regular updates, and I can save the cash.

as the recent owner of a pixel XL i can say for sure this is a great phone that will last easily another year. photos are great. i took 2 shots in low light, 1 with my 6P, another with the pixel XL and the difference is massive. if it wasn't for the fact that i had saved and expected to buy an upgrade this year, as well as having got the XL for free and will pass this into my partner, and sell her XL replacement when it comes in as brand new so bringing the cost of the XL2 down, i'd very happily have kept this phone.

I think you would get that £100 back next year if you were to sell it on.

Also I didn't realise anyone was still selling new Pixel XL 128GB handsets?

But doesn't the Pixel XL miss out on all the bluetooth goodies like APTX & HD?

Not enough to warrant the upgrade for me personally tbh.

But i'd still be losing out on a bigger screen/battery/headphone jack all of which I tend to make good use of.

You can't, I got a grade A from CeX which looks as good as new for £520.

Well you sound happy with the deal you got, but for me a brand new Pixel 2 with a 2 year warranty would be worth the extra £100

Smaller battery sure, but there's a more efficient chip and a smaller screen to power.

Bigger screen, well that's undeniably a good thing if you can handle the size of the handset :)

I'm happy with the bigger screen (and resolution) and battery, it definitely justifies the saving as well.
