**** The Official Google Pixel 3 Thread ****

Anyone upgraded to the pixel 3 from the s8?
Rear camera has died. Looking to get it repaired for 50 quid or a new phone...

I went from the S8+ to the Pixel 3 XL. Pixel feels marginally smoother in day to day use, but the camera far surpasses the S8+.

I'm quite happy with the upgrade tbh.

Good to know..., now debating whether to wait for the s10 or bite the bullet with the pixel.

I went from an S8 to a 3XL, and my wife has a 3. The standard 3 feels slightly smaller than the S8, but thicker due to the edge display and curved back of the S8.

I would say the screen quality of the 3XL is about the same (maybe a tad better) than the S8, whereas the standard 3 is maybe the same as the S8. The S8 is brighter than both though, if that matters.

Lulz. How much longer are we taking here?

Snapdragon 670 isn't a slow chip.

Give you a couple of seconds. :D

I guess my point is it's not gonna be identical and just have a lower CPU. Surely the lite version will have a lot of other features that are considered less than the standard pixel

The lite looks far too gimped, and will almost certainly be priced far too high for most people to seriously consider it. Even at half the price of the flagships, it's trading blows with the oneplus on price.

The IPS panel has the side bezels from the pixel 2, and an even bigger chin than the standard 3. That together with the lower soc and 32gb storage makes it a no go for me. Not bothered about the soc, but the 32gb storage will be a limitation.....and it just looks naff.

It's looks like a £200 phone, but will probably be priced around the £400-£500 mark lol

I've been using my 3XL for a few days now and I'll be honest, I'm really enjoying it. Took it off charge yesterday morning at 6:45am and today at 10:25am it still has 40% battery left. That includes watching a few youtube videos, texting, browsing, using the slow mo camera and what not. Very impressed! The battery life was one of my biggest concerns, but I'm really happy with it.

The Notch. I've got used it to now, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Actually, it looks kinda cool
Camera. This was my first disappointment until I realised by default it has the 'beauty mode' on. Once I switched it off, it's great.
Screen. Epic, probably the best thing about the phone. Thank god google made it look closer to the glass and removed those awful side bezels from the 2XL.
Speakers. I do feel a little vibration from the rear, but the sound is good. Really good! I swear I can hear more instruments in a song compared to my previous phones. The imbalance is fine, doesn't annoy me at all. It's like a 35/65 split.
Microphone. I've recorded videos of the kids messing about, and the audio is fine. Mines not tinny at all.
RAM Management. I've had this happen once where an app has reloaded. It's not because of only having 4GB as the only running apps were gmail, camera and maps. This is a software bug.

and now for the one thing which nearly floored me......bluetooth works!!! I mean, it actually works. This is the first time I've known a pixel device work first time in the car when streaming music from spotify. Track selection, metadata, cover art, playlist, previous/next skipping....perfect! I guess 9.1 will break it though lol STUNNED, GOB SMACKED, LIGHT HEADED, PINCH NOT DREAMING

I'm hoping my White 128GB 3XL is in stock with EE soon, the Google store is showing shipping by 29th Nov so hopefully it's similar.

I'm glad you like, although how one can say the notch looks cool (even now that I'm used it, IMO it looks absolutely disgusting!), while calling a *tiny* pair of side bezels on the 2XL awful is surely a massive contradiction! :D

:D:D:D:D I don't know why, but I really hated that 2XL screen and not because LG made it :p

I just had a text from EE that mine is being delivered tomorrow by DPD :)

**Edit: it might only be my new sim card **

A week or so in, I forget about the notch most of the time because it's hidden (Nacho notch). The sooner Google bakes this in the better.

Battery life is more than acceptable for me, plus I have wireless chargers everywhere so it's not an issue to top it up throughout the day.
